Not sure if this really addresses the trope: Conveniently Seated

The current pic for Conveniently Seated seems to be addressing something different than the trope. I'm not sure how we'd go about pic'ing this; the first thing that comes to mind are pics of Rei Ayanami or Haruhi Suzumiya sitting at their desks looking out the window, but I dunno if that's enough.

Hmm cant find a good shot of Chisame in Negima commenting on how stupid the class is with her being in the back of the class with an overview of the insanity... bah

I think a collage that shows at least four pictures of anime characters sitting next to window would work.

Being seated near a window is not the whole trope though. Its any convenient seat.

Haruhi not only sits next to the window she sits behind Kyon perfect for grabbing his chair yanking him back so he hits his head on her desk when she has an idea. (doing this more than once.)

Like say Persona 4 [1]◊ Where the MC sits in front of party member Yousuke and next to another party member Chie (you get to help them both out in class when the teacher asks questions) who in turn sits behind her BFF Yukiko... All perfectly in view of the static camera.

Or Hidamari Sketch and Yuno and Miyako sit next to each other for conversations. (the rest are unnamed Faceless Masses). [2]◊ [3]◊ [4]◊ [5]◊

Those Hidamari pics feel like something else other than this trope.

I tried looking for pics of Rei Ayanami sitting by the window in their class, but didn't turn up anything...probably wasn't searching with the right criteria.

Hmm I am starting to think we need to split or rename this.

Sitting By The Window and Main Characters Sit Together In A Class and other tropes here with this one as a supertrope. (for those with other convenient spots like Chisame example I brought up.) Make it clearer and maybe it wouldn't be so disused. (and it is very very disused)

They changed seats but remained together, conveniently for the plot(I based this on my understanding of the description).

Yeah, no one without the context of the series will get it.

Yeah, that makes no sense if you aren't familiar with the series; it doesn't actually look like they moved at all.

Because it's mostly an anime trope, apparently. Have any non-anime suggestions?

I don't - I'm just pointing out that as anime is mentioned once in the description, you may be limiting yourselves unnecessarily by only looking there for pics. The example bias seems more related to editors then anything else - this seems to be a trope universal to all works with a school setting, regardless of medium.

Well IMO this needs some splitting and work, the sitting in the by the window (most of the time in the back or 1 row from the back.) seems like an anime thing I mean I randomly looked at some school animes I had and every single one of them at least one main character was in this spot. Other series like Heartcatch Precure, Nanoha, Sailor Moon, Azumanga Daioh etc (oh Lucky Star does not seem to follow this at least in the first episode... rare)

Characters grouped together so that camera angles can easily show them in one shot is another thing which IMO is a different form of convenience, that not every one of the sitting by the window Persona 3 and Persona 4 do not sit near the window but they sit next to each other (convenient for assisting in questions) Which I dont think is an anime trope at all its more of a school story telling trope so they dont have to yell across the room in class.

Some series use both like [1]◊ Yuru Yuri two main characters in the back with the "Main" character in the corner and two secondary Tsundere The Rival characters in front.

This trope is in some serious disuse here and seems to try and cover many things... when I get some time I think I could triple the list by just glancing at my Harddrive. (So I can go for not X Just X.) Rename and split IMO lol.

I think it's mainly due to the fact that it's just easier to find anime screenshots of good quality than live action media. If you can find a good example, by all means post it. I don't think the current suggestions are so much "we're only looking for anime images" as "so far the only good images we've found are from anime".

Well seeing how the examples are almost all Anime and Webcomics (with very few western animation ones that dont have the same meaning) not so sure on that.

It doesn't even have to be live-action media - most of the non-anime examples on the page are actually Western Animation. And I don't have any better suggestions, seeing as I don't watch many school series at all. I was just a little confused by how it seemed like the assumption had been made that this was anime-specific when it wasn't.

Maybe most people in this thread don't watch western school series' either. I dunno.
