The item has shipped, I repeat, the item has shipped.
Bought this on psn the other day. Just got the second party member and due to my insane need to do every last sidequest I am now approaching level 17 xD
Doing every single side quest has the added bonus of decreasing the amount of grinding you need to do just to survive too! So it's win/win.
Had to take a break for a couple days because of ridiculous amounts of work drove me to exhausted madness (damn you auditors!), but now it's on to talk to the Cowlipha!
...I both love and hate these puns. Well done, Level 5.

i. hear. a. sound. It reminds me of Dragon Quest. IN a good way. Just like the combat and music reminds me of Grandia.
I get my copy on Monday, and funnily enough, it is the last copy in the shop, 8-)
I saw it today, it is real, I am getting it and no bugger else is.
Goodbye Modern Warfare 3, you were good game but I am not into multiplayer and I need the cash trading in you will get me for this new game.
Wizard Edition get! While I didn't get the soundtrack or either of the Ninostarter items (*harumph*) the book more than makes up for it. It's hardcover, ornately detailed, something like 350 pages long and it smells like old books we're getting married next month it's delicious.
Oh, and some game came with it, too, let's see if that's any good.

The art style in this game screams Miyazaki.
This is a robbery. Give me all of your money and I'll kill you.....I'm twatting Teeny Boppers and Whippersnappers on the head with a stick.
Also the soundtrack. Gosh.
Oooh, it's a Joe Hisaishi soundtrack. I might want that sight unseen.
So my friend visited and I was able to play it. I reached the desert en-route to Al Mamoon. The game is extremely pretty, it's nice to see a proper world map again, Oliver is kind of dense, the mom died out of nowhere, the battle system is enjoyable, and I like the quest system. The battle system isn't bad, it could be better, but I enjoy it. It's certainly better than my low benchmark for action-battle systems, the one from Ar Tonelico Qoga.
I'm looking forward to playing more.
The book, even though it's in-game, is really interesting and well written. The story about the forest guardian was fascinating and kind of sad as well.

Not Three Laws compliant.Don't think it's been posted before, here is a pre-order for a two-disc OST release in March, the second disc consisting of PS 3 exclusive songs, I think it's complete? As an extra incentive it comes with a 20 page art-lyric-booklet thing.
I notice that Oliver's accent is a wee bit dodgy but with a British mother and American neighbours I suppose that could be on purpose? And while he is quite Motor Mouth-y (seriously, I had trouble keeping up at first), Drippy's accent is the best thing. Is the whole "Wiseard" thing in the book supposed to be Funetik Aksent?
Today is Der Tag. I get my game. Or I am going to go nuts, weel, more nuts than usual.
The game is mine, the game is mine. It cost me more than anticipated because I forgot to actually take my Modern Warfare 3 game out of my Xbox so I lost the trade-in that could have brought me. But, not to worry.

Sorry, second post. I am about to start playing this after getting it this morning. What should I look for after the first hour or so?
Assuming the first 90 minutes are anything like Jet-Black Mage, your in-game mom dropping dead from a congenital heart defect. (No, that's not the canon explanation, but it's close enough.) A talking tree that will explain basic battling to you in Ni no Kuni. Followed by a six-eyed man-turtle boss about 30 minutes after that. BURN it repeatedly for massive damage.
Yes, I'm still not done with JBM after a year, I blame school and getting distracted with other games. >_>
Hard Boiled Detective Since 1985Hmm, thanks.
So, does that talking mole thingy always spell "your" with "y o u e r"? It is a bit distracting.
BTW, loving the Osaka-ben. And the title drops every second sentence or so. Ni no Kuni this, Ni no Kuni that. The subtitles tend to ignore it though.
It's because of the Welsh accent in the dub. Doesn't Ni No Kuni translate to 'Another World' though?

Not Three Laws compliant.I have the Japanese audio option on. The subs are still spelling "Our" and "Your" with that extra "E"
Yeah, Ni no Kuni does mean An Other/Second World, doesn't it. Just met Old Father Oak in the forest. He sounds like a Japanese Bill Nighy.^ The voice is so similar to him it is eerie as hell. Kinda soothing as well, I love me a bit of Bill Nighy's voice. And he is giving me a free "Form Familiar" spell. Suweet.
^The guy who was one of the big bads in the Underworld films, not the Science guy, in case of any dubiety.
When I reached the tree, my immediate response was "Augh! Kill it with fire!" My second response was, "Why does a tree have a beak?"
At least it's better than the creepy snail eyes on the talking trees in the Dark Cloud games.
Not Three Laws compliant.I wonder if Old Father Oak is a thing with Grandmother Willow.

"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaMoving to the second town and it is a fricking gauntlet. I got killed so many times a while ago trying to get there that I decided to sack it for a while. Plus points are that I got my third Familiar and that I have around eight hundred or so Guilders. And that Frostbite really works well on those desert dwelling bastiches.
Wish the bounty hunt-man had told me "just go for the blue dot" and saved me from quite a bit of swanning about.
Finally made it to the second village. Find the sage without too much bother only to have to go looking for his daughter's soul mate in Motorville.
Its odd how no-one so far has noticed that Oliver is wearing a hose, tunic, cloak and a big locket
A couple npcs notice, but they think he's playing a game. One person thinks he's playing superheroes.
Not Three Laws compliant. Finally managed to do the Temple of Trials quest. Hard work it was too, boyo, but the rewards are tidy.
So Level-5 likes the Beef Gate, eh?
