Rename to Geeky Glasses Plot: Geeky Glasses

Actually, I do have something to say in this thread. Sorry for the double post, but I wasn't sure if people would notice if I edited this into my epic failure above.

The crowner's been up for three days; what exactly is the procedure involved with changing the name?

And question: Should we leave Geeky Glasses as a redirect, or would that encourage misuse?

And another question (or statement...): I've just started cleaning up the wicks, and every one so far has been misuse. o.O I'm starting to worry that once all those are gone, there won't be any wicks left!

It would most certainly encourage misuse. Do not leave it as a redirect, especially since so many of the current wicks appear to be wrong anyway.

I think going through the links left by Geeky Glasses isn't going to be worth it until we have a Nerdy Glasses trope to swap the links for. Nerd Glasses is being renamed (see this thread, so once that's done the trope we need will have to be made in the Nerd Glasses namespace. Should we just leave the Geeky Glasses links in limbo until then?

I don't think leaving this in limbo is helping anything. Maybe if we make it a disambig and at least go through and move the wiks that are for the plot?

Yes. At least until the Geeky Glasses cleanup is finished, unless we want to move this to Special Efforts.

We do not move TRS to Special Efforts. We can open a special efforts thread to run at the same time, but this thread will stay open until everything is done.

How is the clean up coming?

Unwanted Glasses Plot has 9 wicks, Geeky Glasses Plot and Unwanted Geeky Glasses have 0. What exactly does it mean that Geeky Glasses is "in the process of" being moved to UGP?

There's 34 wicks left. Open Geeky Glasses in a new window/tab. Then click the "related" button. Those are the wick pages. Pick a page, head to edit, then find all instances of Geeky Glasses, and replace them with Unwanted Glasses Plot.

Of course, if you come across an example that just says the character wears ugly glasses, you should just delete the whole example.

OK, cleaned up the wicks (most were only "a geek wearing glasses") and Cut Listed the old laconic, but must Geeky Glasses be redirected to Unwanted Glasses Plot to take the 145 redirects?

Earlier,it was argued that the term would only encourage misuse. I agree. I think geeky glasses have more similarity, as a term, with Brainy Specs.

So we should cutlist Geeky Glasses, then?

How about we redirect it to Nerd Glasses?

^Looks liek a good idea. About, 145 inbounds are way too many - no cutlisting unless there are alternatives.

In case anyone was wondering, Two Eyes Good Four Eyes Bad, is a trope I launched without knowing about this one. When I found out, I decided that they were similar enough to merge, hence the redirect.

It looks like the last thing to do is decide where to redirect Geeky Glasses? I support aiming it at Nerd Glasses; Brainy Specs (AKA Purely Aesthetic Glasses) was mentioned but doesn't seem like the typical use.

Why not just make it a disambig?
