Reasons why we think Troper Tales should be removed

I don't mind the offsite thing, either. As long as they're not here.

Pretty much everything I think has been said, though I especially agree with the fact that it's turning off new people to the site. If the first page I saw here was Troper Tales for one of the Porn Tropes I'd probably never come back to the site (and warn people about it too).

If TT was removed I think This Troper would just focus mostly on the others shows they're doing ("The Nice Guys" and some show about bronies).

That's another huge problem. Even more so than the main wiki, no one reads the rules. And it shows.

Which form of this troper you talking about? The edit or the web-original? Keeping or deleting TT would do nothing to solve either issue. This troper the web has already delved into the fora for vids a few times.

If it is the natter. It still happens with tt as it is.

@ Chihuahua: I really don't think we should let our policy on this be dictated by what some troll on You Tube decides to do in response.

If you're worried he might make a video with you in it, don't say anything here you aren't comfortable with other people reading. Pretty simple.

If they don't read the rules, the ones they should, it's their fault for not reading them in the first place. Ignorance is not an excuse they can use.

And Troper Tales really does invite bragging quite often.

It would not hurt the various posters to possibly consider more what you write/discuss before doing so. Also people This Troper will simply find whatever material they think is handy for their purpose. Ie mocking their target.

I kind of figured but what I covered is still valid.

TT's mocking is literally just reading posts/tales word for word. If you don't post things you would be embarrassed for someone else to read, This Troper won't affect you.

Troper Tales, as I see it, is primarily a liability for the site as it not only serves as either a soapbox or a stage for e-peen waving, but that it doesn't help our reputation.

Especially with the "badge of honor" tropes whose Tales apparently give some contributors the license to act all self-important.

I am Schitzo and I approve of this movement.

I've used it once or twice, but what the hell, let's just get rid of it. What's worth reading can easily be moved somewhere else.

Ok, way I see it it's like this:

We aren't doing this (Or shouldn't do this) because of what This Troper might do. We should act because we're displeased, and this thread is evidence that we are displeased with the current state of affairs. TT has been nothing but a problem for the site, both in terms of questionable material provider and server space that doesn't work neither toward he wiki's goal of making a catalogue of tropes in media, nor the forum's aim to make an interesting discussion place.

As such, I think we should just delete it and maybe, if someone's interested, make it an offsite wiki for someone else to run.
