Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Funny thought.
For all of Peter’s character arc throughout Homecoming/FFH that he’s not Iron Man 2.0 and that he’s his own hero, it’s amusing that with the oncoming arrival of Ironheart we will get an actual Iron Man 2.0
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I guess we'll have to see how she's portrayed. Aside from being a genius armor builder, she's not very like Tony in the comics.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersShe does possession similar flaws to Tony including arrogance and thinking she knows better than everyone.
Makes her a truer successor to Tony than Peter was because she is a lot like the guy.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Im little concerned with the introduction of Riri Willams. Not looking forward to seeing them tell the same story they told with Peter but Im not seeing what esle they could do with that character.

Define "the same sort of story with Peter". That's kinda of a vague statement.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Newbie hero tries fill their mentor/Idols shoes, realies at the end they have to do things their way e.t.c
The same character arc Peter went though in far from home.

Riri isn’t much like that. In Eve Ewing’s run Riri never even brings up Tony because she’s very committed to doing things her way. She’s got little regard about Tony’s legacy like MCU Spidey.
The funny thing is by the time Riri became Ironheart Tony was dead for a while so they completely missed out on setting any sort of mentorship between the 2.
Admitably it is funny to be saying you'll be doing things your own way despite your overall power-set directly based off someone else's.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Didn't she have hologram Tony though?
New theme music also a boxYeah
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnd like, wasn't there an issue before Tony died where he actually met her and saw her armour, and was like, holy shit kid! You just built a suit as good as my current one with the kind of resources I had when I built my first suit or something like that?
Like, I'm positive he saw her once and was impressed enough with her.
Then he died, and she kinda did her own thing, but still.
One Strip! One Strip!I think the only shortcoming she had was that modern day advanced armor couldn’t be effectively piloted without an AI and she couldn’t build one of those with a box of scraps, which is why Tony sent his brainscan AI to her when he died
Although after Tony resurrected himself with science, Riri did make her own AI
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNeither does comics Spidey, but that didn't stop them from making the character's identity all about Tony in the films.
The MCU is very Tony centric because Tony was the lynchpin of their business model, and on top of that it's also very legacy centered right now.
Given the other stories they've put out recently, it would be fairly typical for them to interpret "the character is taking up this former character's mantle" as "the character's character arc has to be about taking the former character's place, but realizing they're their own person." It's how they handled Peter, how they handled Sam, what they seem to be setting up with Kate, etc. I'm willing to bet it's what they're going to do with Shuri too.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah, like it or hate it, Tony is essential to the MCU's progression ever since the first Iron Man, and so a lot of people are going to take any kind of continuation of his legacy very seriously.
In fact, I'm willing to bet there's going to be a ton of Iron Man dudebro stans who'll start complaining about how Riri isn't fit to take up the mantle of Iron Man online once they start promoting Wakanda Forever.
Trust no one. What does Riri have to do with Black Panther 2?
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.That's movie were she'll be makin her debute in if i recall correctly.

Kevin feige has said that if Daredevil returns he will be played by Charlie Cox. Playing coy about his supposed upcoming appearance?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Man, people are going to be SO disappointed when it turns out that none of the main characters from any previous live-action Marvel franchises are showing up in the MCU.
Glad to at least get confirmation they aren't planning on re-casting.

This is definitely a win, and the right call to make Considering how acclaimed Cox's performance was in the show, I feel that Feige would have to keep him in the role, like they did with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.
I remember reading a report once that had Feige saying something among the lines of "don't underestimate the fans of the Netflix TV shows", meaning he's definitely watched Daredevil and likely understands what made the show so popular. So being able to build off that, even if they won't be able to go as bloody or crude as that show, would definitely be a plus.
Also, with Jarvis's cameo in Endgame and Kingpin rumors in Hawkeye, Feige could definitely be leaning into that kind of support.

Trust no one.Like, pretty much the only person who I believe isn't coming back is Finn Jones as Iron Fist.
Like, we probably won't be seeing Iron Fist for a long time. Shang Chi is doing his thing, and better. The fact he's actually asian helps too.
One Strip! One Strip!I would not be surprised if while the netflix actors reprise their roles, the shows themselves are only canon in a Broad Strokes fashion.

It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midThere is the worry that some people will be upset that the characters will have an entirely different tone that upsets fans of the Netflix shows. Since I know they go significantly harder than what most of the MCU is. I still hold hope though.
Trust no one.Yeah, I expect a good chunk of the actors to return, but the story won't be quite the same.
Looks like Harry Holland's scene in No Way Home got cut.
In fairness, I'm not entirely sure where a scene where Peter meets a drug dealer would've fit in something like this.
Trust no one.
