Joker would be a waste for a death battle. A one minute melee would be okay, but it seems pointless to waste a battle match on him because he's an iconic villain.
Last I check there's no real debates on who he could take in a physical match. People don't care about Joker's battle feats. His insanity and planning and other themes sure, but not battle feats.
Only person I know of that may be a halfway decent fight for Joker is Vaas, at least as far matching thematically and not completely overpowering him. But then you got the problem of two combatants who aren't particularly known for fighting.

Jokey did manage to humiliate Carnage and get away with it...
@Jonnas N
I don't disagree with your assessment. I don't necessarily agree either. Like I said before, I don't have a particular horse in that race (one's a Villain Sue, one's an unpleasant racial stereotype. They could kill each other and I'd be very happy). I was just looking to try and come up with something approaching a fair fight.
I don't disagree, actually. Here's the thing though—I guarantee that, bad a choice as he is, he'll get used at some point. Besides, like I said before, I'm obsessive. Once I started wondering who, if anybody, he could actually stand a chance against (and who would be appropriate thematically) I had to work out at least one possibility.
As for people not caring what he can do in a fight...I don't care, you don't care. People in other corners of the Internet? I've been there. They care.
That crossover was entertaining, but ignored pretty much everything about both characters. In a straight-up fight Carnage—or any other superpowered villain—reduces Joker to mincemeat.

Ok, so here's another match I was thinking about. With the success of Skyrim, and the multiple comparisons that have been made to the Zelda series (Skyrim even came out around the same time as Skyward Sword), I keep thinking it's only a matter of time before we see Link vs The Dragonborn.
Now, Skyrim doesn't do much for me, so I don't know just how strong and capable the protagonist becomes, or even if there's a "standard" version of him/her. But still, could it be a balanced fight?
RPG protagonists can be pretty difficult to calculate (thus this thing with Cloud), open-ended games even more so.
Assuming that he has all his thu'ums... what combination of spells? What sort of armor and weaponry (the kind seen in promos is fairly low-level iron; we go up to Daedric, which is pretty damn wicked)? What other items can he use? And this is not accounting for whatever stone he's buffed through, or even what race.

I now go by Graf von Tirol. We can probably assume that, if the Dragonborn ever appears in a Death Battle, they'd take on the appearance and race of Skyrim's promotional material, meaning a male Nord with the iron armour. Everything else, however? That's a bit more up in the air.
They'd probably play on the racial benefits of Nords for at least part of their skillset, which would grant them proficiency with two-handed weapons, a resistance to ice-elemental attacks, and a battle cry ability which (if successful) can send their target into a temporary fleeing panic. If a traditional Nord, they'd probably eschew most types of magic, but would probably pack a restoration spell or two.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805There is also a problem in the discrepancy of power between gameplay dragonborn and lore dragonborn. Lore dragonborn is said to be able to shake a mountain and bust a fort by yelling at it. Gameplay dragonborn is not that powerful.
If a chicken crosses the road and nobody else is around to see it, does the road move beneath the chicken instead?Gameplay!Dragonborn can kill a dragon and then go off into a forest and be easily killed by a angry bear.
Gameplay!Dragonborn can also use smithing and enchantments to create weapons that do infinite damage.
So far, the match seems plausible.
I could see Dragonborn being allowed his best armour (Cloud had spin-offs and such tying him to the Buster Sword, but there's no limitation here). I tried looking up this Daedric Armour, and it seems that it is made from the essence of demi-gods/demons/eldritch species, which makes it supernatural at the very least.
Assuming that the Dragonborn is Nord, his battle cry probably wouldn't work that well on Link (since his defining characteristic is courage), but the two-handed sword might, as enemies with heavy weapons tend to be effective in Zelda games.
That lore sounds more like a legend than a statement of fact. How does he defeat dragons in-story, anyway? Is it an advantage he's supposed to have from birth?

I'm disappointed you guys are still making reasoned arguments and not just shouting FUS RO DAH at each other.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyHow likely do you guys think that Rocky vs. Little Mac will happen?
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!So they didn't actually cover his abilities at all...
The sad, REAL American dichotomyYeah, because seriously, the story of how he and his clan came to be in the modern world — specifically the spell's should-have-been-impossible-to-fulfill criteria and Xanatos' Crazy Enough to Work solution to fulfilling the criteria (like Wiz said, the skyscraper must've been astronomically expensive to be built so that it genuinely lives up to the meaning of "skyscraper") — is awesome enough to merit making the preview revolve around explaining it.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I think Goliath's abilities can be explained fairly quickly. His backstory can have a bit more time than usual.
Thinking about it, Xanatos would have been a good opponent for Tony Stark.
Hardly. Xanatos' armors and invention don't tend to be that durable and get trashed fairly quick.
So just like Tony's?
More so.
You know a fight I would want to see? Father Anderson vs Father Pucci vs Father Kotomine.
I just realized a reason why I really want to see Shulk vs Garnet.
A fight between two people who can see the future would almost certainly have the quality of the respective future sight as a large factor in victory. How quickly it relays information, how fast the mind processes it, and how often it triggers.
Which means Wiz would likely be forced to say that a character won because they can see faster.
I have a message from another time...... Make it happen. For God's sake, someone lobby Screw Attack so that they put this fight as a priority one, pending an even more awesome/demanded matchup overtaking it.
"Shulk" reminded me of She Hulk... and makes me wonder who to pit her against. Wonder Woman?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. There's a guy in the comments who said that Sackboy can beat Goku, and he's PSASBR feats to do so (He beat ZEUS!!!!!1!!!1!1)
My keks top that day.
Yeah, that makes sense. I'd give Joker the victory overall, as he's bound to have something that would allow him to escape, keep his distance, and delay the match as much as he could (say, smoke clouds or something similar).
