Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

If this choice is between Roy Moore and a Democrat, a Democrat. For sure.”
Holy shit.

New Survey coming this weekend!Does Bill Clinton have a library?
I'm blanking here, I know the name Jeff Flake but can't place where. Was he the guy Moore beat in the primaries?

I don't know, but if he has, it is probably the Playboy and Hustler publishing records.

Inter arma enim silent legesSenator from Arizona, I think.
This story is just getting worse. According to 538 things have already narrowed since the announcement, but Moore is still slightly in the lead, according to polling averages.
But if you give it more time to settle with people, and more details keep coming to light, it's not impossible.

x3 Flake's the Arizona Senator that's retiring in 2018. This literally means nothing, sadly. If this were, say, Sessions this might mean something.
Every state has 2 Senators; he's the Junior Senator to John McCain.

He’s the current republican Arizona Senator.
Oh and yes Bill Clinton has a library.[1]

Insult to Rocks aside, a Trump library will probably have to be wholly funded and maintained by private supporters as was Nixon's until the last few years. Should Trump be fully outed as the most treasonous POTUS yet, the only way for the federal National Archives to oversee his library would be as a grim reminder of America's worst and why we need to be our best to avoid everything that happened.
Bill Clinton's library is in Arkansas.

Didn't the Daily Show do a parody of a Trump library using his tweets and speech?
Dunno about the Daily Show, but John Oliver did one last night where they did one of those predictive text dealies and came up with a more coherent sentence than an average Trump speech.
What matters in this life is much more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, too. - F. Rogers.Yes, exclusively on his tweets, and I desperately wish I could have gone to see it, especially after volunteering at the Nixon Library in its reopening.
A Trump library will undoubtedly just be a shrine to himself. And it better be privately funded, even though he will never spend a single cent of his own money on it, especially when trying to profit off it. Obviously, it will be located on one of his properties, and my guess is Mar-a-lago.

O_O
Like this day just keeps getting weirder and weirder
New Survey coming this weekend!I'm sincerely wondering how so much of this is only coming out now, if he's been such a blatant scumbag for so long.
Surprised, I ain't.
Maybe because it was mostly a local thing, pretty much like Trump is viewed by New Yorkers who are used to Donald Dumpster antics.
Now that he is going into the reelection process, some shit is coming to light because people are now paying attention to this kind of stuff.

And in other news relating to Alabama, remember the grossly unqualified judicial nominee (as deemed by the American Bar Association) Brett Talley? Well, it turns out that he forgot to mention that his wife is the Chief of Staff for Trump's White House counsel on the paperwork requesting such information that might prove a conflict of interest.
This fucking administration.
"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"Spectacularly unpopular in his home town? That's an achievement.
Avatar SourceAt this rate could charges end up filed against Moore before Election Day?
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyraniIRC police have to file charges at some point by Alabama law.
New Survey coming this weekend!Since the 5th Witness (who just came out today) is saying she'd swear under oath about what Roy Moore did, it appears that it could happen this week.
@Moore being banned from a mall: Wow. Moore really is scum. So is that one couple that knows (or should know) Moore was banned from major buildings for sexual harassment and yet they will still vote for him and are calling these 'accusations' a 'liberal plot'.
I can't see Moore winning anymore; it's impossible at this point. Jones is going to win, and even if Moore somehow does win (and, like I said, I can't see it anymore), he's going to be kicked out of the Senate the day he's elected.
If Moore does still win I'm actually wondering if they'll follow up on that threat or if it's just posturing. And if they do back it up, would that hurt the Republican Party in Alabama?
It's not funny, but like this guy is the real life Quagmire. He should be on a sex offender registry.
Edit- Didn't realize was posted on the last page.

Given all that is going on? Yes. They will back it up. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want a guy who creeps on young girls working with me, whether he is in my party or not.
I mean, all they need to expell him are 66 votes, and they already have 50-something who would vote to expel him.
Let me put it to you this way... Roy Moore was already hurting the Republican party here, even before the allegations hit. If he gets expelled, it will be really bad for the party, state-wide.

Moore is like that guy that Matthew McConnohie played in Dazed and Confused. *shudders*
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyMy issue is we though that with Trump as well, but here we are.
Even if Trump gets impeached he will probably get a library, Nixon got one even though he was almost impeached.
