Reminds me of DT Eightron. Unfortunately there's no page of that.
And if anybody says "yaoi" or "BL" or "gay" or any sort of variation of those three I will reach through my monitor and slap you across the internet.
So many questions in my head...
B-but it IS choking full with Ho Yay ever since the two meet....
I...can't believe others think like I did. When I went to No.6 main page of this wiki, to add an Expy entry, it was already there. With my exact same thoughs. Seriously, Nezumi does look like another Kanda, just less dumb and more talkative. And Shion...right now doesn't look like Allen at all but in the OP, ED and the trailers you can cleary see it.....
Hmmmm. I guess I'll continue watching this.

Never Give UpI don't really want to judge this series because I don't think they've reached the meat of the story yet...
Maybe next week, now that they've got this prologue stuff out of the way.
Tumblr here. The manga is a bit more advanced, so you can always read that. There're 3 chapters in mangafox and episode one corresponds more or less to the first half of the first chapter.
Ho yay can be subjective, so if want to say that a show contains ho yay then I'm right. Neither the manga or the anime has shounen-ai tags, but there's definitely some ho yay between the characters.

I can't help it, it's a learned response.
Now that we've got the Yay aside, is anyone else out there impressed by the fact that the writers are actually being convincing when showing the characters are intelligent? It's not rocket science, but we do hear people talking about brain synapses and suturing blood vessels. Later on Shion even goes into a discussion about parasitic wasps, which makes sense, seeing he's an ecology major. I just think it's refreshing, especially when comparing it to something like: 'Look, I moved my king! I'm a freakin' genius! And the writers have obviously never played chess before!'
My stupidity knows no bounds. Why do I do such things, why?!Well it sure was a relief to find out that they grow up - I'm making myself feel rather uncomfortable by shipping two twelve year old boys.
Har har.
So, what about that "My kiss was the physical symbolism of the manifestation of reproductive desire" - girl? She was fun, I hoped she would around, but it seems pretty unlikely considering how GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!! This show is.

I found her to be extremely cute. Sure hope that it isn't the last thing we see of her.
@saltyavocado: what struck me was that Shion was way too enthusiastic about the opportunity to give another person an anaesthetic shot and sew him together . But I'm impressed too. I couldn't do that at 12.

"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntThe BL is STRONG on this one
/drop
...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura Chifuyu^waaaah, two guys held hands once
@ Musical Croc Well, who hasn't wanted to stitch together wounds and inject stuff into other people at twelve? I remember all sorts of knives and stuff in my childhood. :) I would have been enthusiastic about the opportunity too, but maybe not as confident.
And we really do need more nerdy girls in anime. This show must absolumadylutely bring Ms. Manifestation of Reproductive Desire back.
You mean more nerdy girls that aren't Shrinking Violet or Otaku Surrogate.

She's going to be in the next episode at least, judging by the preview.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntApparently she's the love interest in the novels, so we'll see more of her in the future if the anime will follow the novels.
The Straight Option, you mean?
On-topic, gonna be following this show. It just isn't a proper anime season without a BONES series having passionate sex with my eyeballs.
What's precedent ever done for us?Second episode is up and running. And things are getting good.
Safu is still awesome. Quote of the day "I want your sperm". My reaction to quote of the day: O_O. Also first time I get to see a girl friendzoned. Let us hope that she'll come back eventually.
Talk about some creepy Body Horror right there. Seriously messed up.
IMO it is more impressive in the novel where at first she cited reasons such as they are both elites so their children should be awesome (hence the "sperm") and then got straight to the point "I want to have sex with you. I just want to have sex". But yes, she is awesome.
They cut quite a bit of the novel ( there ought to be more talk between Shion and Yamase, as well as between Shion and the investigator. Shion appears to be somewhat more level-headed in the original material too). At least it was still coherent and the action sequence was cool.

You've read the novel? OK, I have to ask... what's the Ho Yay quotient like there?
What's precedent ever done for us?
Since there is no thread for this show yet...
My first reaction was "Ministry of Peace?". They certainly are not subtle about the hints of dystopia. Also when that dome-like thingie howled, one or two people removed their hats. Wonder if that will be addressed later.
The general atmosphere reminds me of Toward The Terra. I like the characters, except the adults because there is nothing remarkable about them so far. Had to laugh at the "My kiss was the physical symbolism of the manifestation of reproductive desire".
