Perhaps an image of the entire planet Cybertron? [1]◊

Problem is it looks like a City Planet
City Planet incidently is pictureless
Beside the Cybertron core, Babylon 5's great Machine◊ comes to mind◊.

Perhaps a shot from the trope-naming level? Not entirely sure what part would be best if we do.
Belief or disbelief rests with you. There was a video linked to on the discussion for the page image for Clock Punk, just recently, that (if I am recalling it correctly) may have something that will work. A game intro, I think?
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.It's always stereotypical of me to go to HR Giger first, but, eh, here's my suggestion:

derflatermouse. Here's a homage-pic◊ someone did of the Moloch Machine from the film Metropolis.
EDIT: I didn't think the original was clear enough, but here's a pic◊ of that, too.

http://www.mansionofe.comI like post 8.
Fight smart, not fair.Wait, I thought this trope is supposed to be about factory/industrial-themed environments in video games. If that's the case, then why not do a collage of levels from various video games fitting this trope, like with some of the other Video Game Settings tropes?
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows. Is it one? If so, we should stick with the theme.
Fight smart, not fair.Evil engine number 9 hurts the eyes less than the current image.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.Yeah it's a video game level trope, but the current picture doesn't depict that. If anything, it better depicts a fire pit.
Numerous levels from the Mega Man franchise would count for this. The crushing spikes and conveyer belts from Metal Man's stage, for example.

I like the third one. Gears everywhere.
I may be a bit biased (I love Mega Man 2), but I think this works.
Well, since the Sonic series is the Trope Namer, I think it would be fair to look into it to search for some illustrative images. I got a few, depicting Mad Gear Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog 4:
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.
The last one is nice.
I think it's important to see gears and pistons and such. This isn't just a technological or industrial area, it's inside a machine.
Well, my Mad Gear images has gears and pistons in them.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Meh, the Sonic ones are not in any way much better than the current ones IMHO
A still from the skullmonkeys level may not be overly engine-ish, but I have another suggestion to make from the pretentious side of the spectrum. Limbo!◊
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.I DO like the Limbo one though.
Honestly, I don't think the Mega Man or Sonic images show the scale needed to display this trope.
Eternal Engine is basically where a factory or other form of complex machinery basically takes up a SIGNIFICANT PORTION of the surrounding land. It may even be an entire planet in and of itself. It will be filled with all manner of mechanisms like gigantic pistons and other various mechanisms and machines and such. It's named after a level from Sonic The Hedgehog 2, with the implication that the machines continue on for all eternity in any direction you travel (or that it's an engine that will never run out of power...)
The current image does nothing to help demonstrate the "never-ending" or "grand scale of size" of the engine it's trying to display. The caption does NOTHING for it.
Looking through the examples, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find a suitable image of Cybertron, Mustafar, The Citadel, or any number of the character stages from Mega Man.
