General Mario Thread

Having read no spoilers, I'm hoping there's a sci-fi themed floor with some Alien inspirations, as far as slightly-less-conventional horror genres go.

I mean that doesn't seem particularly likely but neither did the concept of two sequels to Luigi's Mansion.

The spookiest game of the year is out. I will say that the atmosphere is very impressive.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is blowing away my expectations so far. The amount of little details put into the intro alone is bonkers. They didn't need to put in a Variable Mix that changes when you're near Mario, Peach, or the receptionist, but they did.

Mario Maker will sell better during the holidays, but honestly it seems kind of low. Maybe people want a proper new 2D Mario after all.

Fucking prosafia and his thumbnails nearly ruined Luigi's Mansion 3 for me.

I blame Nintendo's Youtube practices and weird online policies.

Mario Maker is a game meant for sharing, and Ninty tends to make doing that pointlessly difficult.

I've started the game, and Luigi's face expression after talking with the "hotel workers" in the intro is a thing of beauty.

The transformation of the hotel from the bright and happy appearance to the dark and eerie one after exiting Luigi's room reminds me of the Otherworld transitions in Silent Hill.

If they make...another Luigi's Mansion should they bring back Totaka or recreate the kind of music style he did for themes that wasn't just the mansion rooms?

I was reading an old issue of Nintendo Power and came across this letter circa 2000 implying Bowser disowned the Koopalings. Poor Koopalings XD

On the plus side one of his New Year's resolutions was to spend more time with them. The family relationship subsection on the wiki is pretty neat and thorough!

I just completed the movie studio floor in Luigi's Mansion 3.

It's kinda fucked-up that Luigi can go and vacuum up the director for no reason after all the business came to a peaceful resolution for once.

I heard that you can actually come back later and his film editing will be complete. I'm not sure how true that is, though.

Man, fuck whoever decided to put those big floor switches in Scarescraper that require your whole team gathered to weigh down.

There's ALWAYS some idiot running around the hallways and balconies doing jack shit while everybody else is yelling "Over here!"

Well, that's always the risk of co-op modes. Either it's beatable with only one player doing their job, which makes it absurdly easy when everyone is actually working together, or you have cooperation be necessary... Which means you're screwed if a teammate won't or can't do their job.

But yeah, I had that experience earlier. Didn't help they got caught in a carpet and had to be rescued. By the time they got to the switch, there wasn't enough time left to finish capturing all the ghosts.

Still, I had a pretty good experience with the co-op overall. Almost everyone I played with knew what they're supposed do, and I didn't run into anyone intentionally throwing the game. The latency wasn't too bad either, though after dealing with Mario Maker 2 anything looks good.
