A leaker in reddit that called the game as being SS a week ago is claiming the following
>Blood will be toned down but will still be there. They want the series to be appealing without it being all about gore. I think there is also an option to turn gore off if you'd like, but the blood will remain by default
>The only reason why they didnt go with UE 4 with kof14 is because they were already too late into development and unfimiliar with it to be bail on their in house engine. With Samurai Spirits, they had a proper budget and were given time to actually use UE 4.
>Ko FXV but yes. They literally just started development for that game now.
>Haoumaru, Nakoruru, Shiki, Charlotte, Genjuro, Ukyo, and Rimururu as playable characters
>The visuals should be upgraded a bit considering that Sam Sho was literally a test to learn Unreal Engine. The graphics overall should look better than they did in Ko F 14
>The next SNK heroines characters are Female Skull-o-Mania, Miss X, and Janne D'arc from World Heroes
Assuming the leak's legit (and it does sound like it), then bad news for anyone hoping for Akira from Rival Schools...
If they went for a Rival Schools character I'd imagine they'd pick Tiffany. Otherwise, the appeal of Akira being there is the same as King's, I'd imagine, and in that case they would probably just use King instead.
...I wonder if Female Skull-o will be another gender bender.

But hey, Samurai Shodown, that's one of SNK's underrated fighting game series, right? So this is a pleasant surprise for you guys!
janne d-arc? HOLY CRAP.
The original Ivy Valentine. She used the snake sword before ivy made it famous.
Also, according to that same leaker, since their focus is Sam Sho, there are no plans to add more characters to Heroines after those four.
Ok, that pick's old and obscure enough to be surprising but formerly popular enough to be kinda expected in hindsight.
Hm... sounds like they're tweaking the gore back to Samurai Shodown II levels. That is, there's blood, but no fatalities.
Wait, seriously? So if the leaker's right, Shiki's finally going to appear in a Samurai Shodown mainline game? o.O

Next thing you know, they'll be bringing Iroha back...though that's massively unlikely.
One Strip! One Strip!
She was popular enough to make it into SVC Chaos in sprite form, and SNK seems to be about just giving fans the stuff they've always wanted, like Rock in KOF, so that's not that surprising.
True. I'm personally still hoping for Mina to appear in a main timeline game set after the events of V. Won't be the first character whose death they retconned
You know what, do we have an SNK thread out there?
We seem to be in serious need of one.
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...SamSho... I remember it for the following things:
- First fighting game with weapons... which can be knocked out of your hand, forcing you to fight bare-handed until you pick it back up.
- Hattori Hanzo.
- Charlotte, who I thought looked cool for being a girl in fancy knight-like armor wielding a rapier. Those giant pauldrons were kickass.
- That giant man with the giant weapon.
- The samurai with a completely bare upper body. I think he's The Rival to the hero, who's also a samurai.
Well... it was bound to happen. Someone is making a doujin of female Terry. No doubt the rest of the girls of SNK Heroines will get the same thing.
Finally!
As for Samurai Shodown, the thing that always stuck out about it the most for me back in the arcade glory days (Aside from the white blood... Eww.) was the intro scene where Haohmaru flashes his sword, a bunch of leaves fall apart, and then the trees behind him split.
Samurai Shodown was always Japanese Mortal Kombat to me - it just swapped out excessive gore with tons of style instead.
Except for 5 where it had both.
What made Samurai Shodown stand out for me is the atmosphere, gameplay, and overall feel. Much of the soundtrack is composed of traditional Japanese music that you don't often hear in fighting games or even games in general, and it gives the battles a deadly and mystifying atmosphere that most games only aspire to. The backgrounds are also exquisite, chockfull of detail and ambiance. And the character designs are some of the most striking in a fighting game while still being 'normal'.
And the gameplay is unlike most other fighters out there. Many other fighting games especially nowadays are about combos or rushdown tactics, but Sam Show is an altogether different beast. A match of Sam Sho is like a battle of wits. Every attack you make matters, and one wrong move could mean your downfall. Normals are incredibly specialized, and knowing when to use them is key. There's not much else like it. Probably because it's so strategic that it makes even old-school fighters like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat blush. And that's probally why it isn't remembered too well nowadays. Which is a shame.
Sales numbers are out
>7. [PS 4] SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy – 10,018 / NEW
>13. [NSW] SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy – 5,493 / NEW
Also for comparison, XIV sold 20k copies at launch

So I think we can say that Heroines was another success for SNK
Kuroki is the Art Director for Sam Sho

Uh... Couldn't you just edit the previous post?
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Success? ummm
KOF 14 was on one console and still sold more. Heroines on pS4 sold half the amount and the switch version sold a quarter of the amount.
Idk I guess maybe it sold more than expected. But success? I don't know...
For XIV they had to create all the models and engine from scratch, leading to a bigger budget and developing time. Heroines are made using assets from XIV, reducing the investment put into it. Selling around 75% of XIV's sales at a reduced budget is a clear success.
I expected KoF XIV to have low sales, but not Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite levels of low sales.
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...
God.
GOD.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.
Manmanmanmannman I wanna know more about the game.
