I have no desire to deal with the Windsor family, or more appropriately Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and they can all kiss my republican arse.

Republican here simply means one in favour of abolishing the monarchy. We tend to range from hardcore communist up to centre-right.

She's good at being British.

She is head of State. But not of Government.

She cuts the big ribbons with the giant scissors. She meets with diplomats and charms their boots off. Knighthoods are still granted under her authority, I believe?

She also acts as advisor to the PM.

That's pretty much why I think the monarchy should be left as is, for now; we've basically got an advisor with massive amounts of experience (even a relatively new monarch would have been groomed for the position). When the one with the actual power changes every few years, that's invaluable.

I don't massively like the royals either. Although they're not terribly significant, I don't really like the cultural implications of having a monarch, even though we also have an elected leader.
