I suppose I'm overdue for this thread. I am indeed Aussie, but I usually use American spellings because even Patriotic Fervor isn't enough to figure out how to change Internet Explorer's spellcheck.

I've been forcing myself to use gaol instead of jail these days because...it confuses people on the internet I guess? Otherwise I use about half and half British and American spellings, I guess. I will never seriously use "thru" as long as I live.

I mostly use British spelling, but there are some words where I just think the American spelling looks nicer ("encyclopedia" instead of "encyclopaedia" comes to mind).
