Xenoblade Chronicles

So I have many complicated feelings about this. Xenoblade 1 is my favorite game ever and it's getting a LOT of improvements. But X needed a Switch version a lot more.

The new content is equally unnecessary but VERY interesting. New Monado! Bionis Shoulder! Shulk and Melia alone time!

Do you think there are gonna be new clothing items? IIRC the skintight leggings Shulk and Melia have are not present in the original game, and Melia looks like she has a puffy new dress.

Both of those outfits look like their defaults, just in HD.

Also, one thing that was pointed out while I was perusing the subreddit: you know how Fiora getting her body back is unexplained in game, but explained in an outside lore book and (from what I hear) was cut for time? We might see that in game as a quest.

Or the ending cutscene.

I want more on the the 2 connection. Is Ontos on the world of the two gods or not?

and : I hope they incorporate that. The end result wasn't implausible without context, but the context makes it fit a lot better.

At least for me, the ending cutscenes are long enough as is without going into Ending Fatigue and would likely veer close to it with what I was talking about added on.

A quest to acknowledge it in game would be much more preferable.

As for Ontos, I heard some want over on the subreddit for Alvis to get a Core Crystal, but since he's already wearing a shirt anyways, you wouldn't see it at all in his Homs form.

Whenever we get a look at him, it’d be worth seeing if the neckline on his shirt is any different. That could be an indication. IIRC, core crystals are usually around the collarbone on humanoid Blades, and with his original design, you’d probably be able to see part of it.

Even if that’s not how they show it, I expect the topic to come up, whether it’s to confirm the implications or debunk them.

I hope the Definitive Edition improves upon 2's sidequest marker and includes UM tombstones and time record.

EDIT: People have pointed out that Shulk wields a big bulky Monado on Bionis shoulder, could be another Monado Replica or another Monado upgrade.

One of my friends theorized that it's a sheath for the Monado, which... I kinda doubt since the series and Sticks to the Back is the peanut butter jelly of our generation, but. Still, I'm interested to see where it goes and what the deal with Bionis' Shoulder is regardless. I'm enjoying this trend of games adding cut content in their remakes.

Oh, also, hopefully crying is a normal reaction to seeing one of your favorite games of all time in HD. Or at least to hearing Xenoblade's title screen music.

What do you guys think about the new Feather Motif? Could it be a mini campaign focusing on the High Entia?

Apparently there are going to be more Giant ruins, on the shoulder? It was a thing in the Boundary Break video. Not called that of course, they didn't go into story analysis.

More importantly, this means we now get to watch Melia suffer in HD! As I believe Handsome Rob once said, otherwise she could be happy and we can't have that.

On one hand, I would have prefered for it to just be a straight HD port so I didn't had to play it again cause I was fine with never playing it again after finishing two or three times. And the less call-forwars they add to 2, the better for me.

buuuuuuuuuuuuut they're putting actual effort into it with the shoulder so to quote the man, Ah shit, here we go again.

Kinda worried it'll be a pacing slowdown though. the story really doesn't need another slowdown right after prison island, or after frontier village.

2020 is the 10th anniversary of the Xenoblade franchise. Things have changed quite a bit in a decade for Monolith.

It is weird to think this went from a game we had to campaign to get a release for (along with two other games) in the West, to something that Nintendo practically micdropped the end of a Direct with.

Thank god for Operation Rainfall.

You can choose between that and Uchiha Rob. Don't think for a second that I've forgotten the Naruto thread after all these years.

Sounds like they are rerecording the lines. Shulk's delivery sounds more in line with Smash and XC2

Are they using the same VAs, though? Someone else already pointed out that Jenna Louise-Coleman is a much bigger name than when the game first came out.

I'd be really disappointed if they can't get get her back.

Although I would understand it.

I've mentioned it before, but finding out Jenna Coleman voiced Melia and played a Companion was actually what got me to start watching Doctor Who.

I have a running bet with my friends on if they'll give the option to have Shulk and Melia get together instead of Fiora and maybe have the option tied to the new area, a la Dragon Quest VIII for the 3DS.

I don't think so, because that would make Melia happy, which we don't want.
