"How are Samus and Pit opposites?"- Deboss
I already explained my reasoning. I should not need to do so again.
Anyway, I guess the question here is, by what standards we claim characters are opposites, in what sense; obviously we cannot expect examples of characters who are opposites in every possible way.
If Fan Works can count as subsections of examples of a trope, they can count enough as examples to provide a page image.
Like I said earlier, they are not opposites in EVERY way, (if there is even such a thing) but the image shows what at least looks like a strong contrast between them. One of them wears... some kind of action-related outfit (not sure what the name is of whatever kind of outfit it is) while the other wears angel wings and something in his hair that looks like some kind of plant.
I don't know if Action Girl in a space catsuit + battle armour is the opposite of a angel looking kid....just saying.
This is Mimi-don't let her cuteness fool you-she's got spunk. What constitutes an opposite then? Does the nature of one character have to point in the exact opposite direction from another, or is perpendicularity enough? If not, by what standards do we decide what qualifies as opposite?
EDIT: Like, in terms of gender role, in one way it is an opposite, as one character is a girl wearing something tomboyish, and the other is a guy wearing something girly. (That is why I also suggested it for Pink Boy, Blue Girl if it does not fit Opposites Attract.) But that does not mean they are opposites in every way.

When I see Pit...I would think someone who looks more dark, and devilish would be his opposite.
Not....well Action Girl Samus.
This is Mimi-don't let her cuteness fool you-she's got spunk. That would be good associating with evil, though, which is Fridge Logic by its very nature.
In any case, this is an example, then, of two characters being opposites in one sense but not in another. It cannot work if you try to apply it in every sense. It can only apply in a few at a time.
I still fail to see how the two are opposites even when you explain why they are.
Maybe I think we should focus on more known LITERAL opposite attracting cases, instead of fanon fanwork ones. Specially ones that have alot of people asking you "How are they opposites?" That's not a good sign.
This is Mimi-don't let her cuteness fool you-she's got spunk. Here's◊ a Deviant Art pic that could work if we got permission. The scene of the creation of Genesis in Preacher would be a great work example of the same thing, but it's NSFW.
There is a difference between the kinds of opposites usually implied by this trope, such as attraction between an energetic girl and a not-so-energetic guy, and the kind of opposites for which it is Fridge Logic that there would even be respect let alone love between them, such as opposites with respect to morality. I say that pic would probably be better for Female Angel, Male Demon.

The pic that's on Female Angel, Male Demon right now, IIRC, was chosen in a separate thread and works well enough for that page.
Yeah, this picture there can make it confusing, as though it implies some kind of relationship between the Female Angel and Male Demon.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. That is a pretty good point, actually.
Still though, I think it would be preferable to find something of differences other than with respect to morality (if we can) as that would by its very nature be the kind of difference that would facilitate disdain rather than admiration, though granted the two are not mutually exclusive as the presence of Foe Yay demonstrates...
... come to think of it, maybe that pic might be better for the Foe Yay main pic? It is clearly more blunt and straight-to-the-point than its current one...

The Foe Yay picture is fine, imo, I actually like it, if you put this angel and demon picture on Foe Yay it would lead to proabably Misuse....because Foe Yay is about Subtext, Dating Catwoman is when you drop the sub and it's straight text....how is an angel and a demon kissing subtext? That's text, fits better here.

This is Mimi-don't let her cuteness fool you-she's got spunk. The current Foe Yay pic is fine. If I can remember my DA login, I'll contact the artist and ask for permission to use the pic...that'll go a long way toward whether or not it will work.
I just pinged lildevilme since her name is in the URL, but I didn't see the pic in her gallery, or I glossed over it. Hopefully I'll get a response back soon, one way or the other.
Nope, just checked a few minutes ago.

No, I agree, that's my gripe with it, too.
