Also usually Super Sonic boss fights usually have you fight the boss for a bit rather than just switching character every five seconds (which can happen here if Final Hazard isn't landing it's laser piss or unborn children at you). Though i admit this last is nitpicky it does led to the final battle feeling a little... empty and boring.

I admit I have a nostalgic bias towards it as I feel it's one of the better SS boss fights. Then again it's one of the few I reached.

I'm not sure how it'd feel less empty if you weren't switching...you'd just have to fly around it otherwise.

Leading to it being more boring.

I always thought you could get a potentially interesting Super Sonic boss fight if it involved him battling Eggman while at the same time rescuing allies and/or animal critters from some nefarious trap/s. Basically shift the sense of danger and threat away from Sonic losing all his rings just a bit and towards the risk of those he cares about being harmed.

It can be annoying if done badly, but I don't know, I like the potential tone of heroics and badassery via Sonic both whooping Eggman and saving people at the same time. Give the eventual victory a real sense of accomplishment from the player doing a rescue.

She's the coolest female character in the series by far. it's an apt comparison.

No, I don't think that works. She makes more sense as either Silver's tag-along as a parallel to Future Mai or as an AU counterpart to Sonic, which leaves her with the options of Ribrianne, Jiren, or Caulifla.

I was actually considering Rouge for 18, but some bits don't quite line up.

Well I still say 18, but then again, I'm biased since I hate Future Mai (stop being in a relationship with Trunks! You're too damned old for him, de-aged or not!), don't care for Ribrianne (she had a good thing going, but Toei overdid it with the Love Freak theme), definitely don't care for Jiren, outside of loving that initially beating he gave to Goku, and am annoyed Cauliffa gets to be a Super Saiyan while Pan is still deliberately being hung out to dry.

So yeah. Very biased. I like 18. I like Blaze, so I associate them. If you are looking at it more thematically, than I can get why you'd be against it.

That being said, it's either Blaze or Rouge for 18. There are no other choices.

Imo, Tails is basically what you'd get if you mashed Krillin and Kid Gohan into a single character role. You get that "I want to make Sonic proud of me / I want to be great like Sonic / I don't want to fail Sonic / etc" (complete with a few "steps up and saves the day" moments in the Adventure titles) stuff from Kid Gohan, but also the Non-Action Guy Muggle Best Friend "fawning sidekick" stuff from Krillin. One of the Sonic redraws on twitter likens him to Goten, though.

I love how after Super Mario Bros. Z everyone's just kind of in agreement that Metal Sonic is Cell.

I'd say at the moment the closest analogue to Eggman in Dragonball is Freeza, simply because he's the closest thing the Dragonball series has to a proper Archenemy character at this point. Plus, he too does the whole "finds a super monster he thinks he can control, grooms that monster to fight his enemies, except it goes haywire and kicks his ass instead" thing in Broly.

Also, Amy has more in common with Kid Chichi than she ever had with Adult Chi Chi. Modern Amy's I guess kind of a mix of OG Bulma and Chi Chi's personalities. Not that everyone in Sonic needs a Dragonball analogue.

Now that I think about it, Tails is like a combination of Krillin (ernest best friend to Sonic) and Bulma (Sonic's first friend and The Smart Guy Gadgeteer Genius).

And I guess a bit of Kid Gohan, too.

Tails is yea, an amalgamation of three separate characters.

....I really wish there was a Dragon Ball story that let Goku interact with other characters per story arc aside from the standard Vegeta, bulma and the like.

Even Sonic did that...before 2010.

Omega's Android 17, right? Turned on his master immediately and does whatever he wants who eventually mellows out?

Gamma would be 16, down to them both dying to never return, I guess.

Makes sense, but don't forget the bird connection. I guess Chaos would be King Piccolo, maybe? Or maybe Buu?
