In general, but I notice that you seem to take issue with Rob's statement about Adventure fans for some reason.

So I found this 16 remix of Solaris phase 2:

I keep coming back to 06. I suppose I'm lamenting the lost potential. Cause I really like this theme.

Anyone got any other 16 bit remixes of post Genesis games? I think it'd be fun to hear them.

Yikes, that Game Gear Micro video I embedded on the last page has its like/dislike ratio split down the middle...

Well. I can only imagine what'll happen if Sega winds up announcing a proper Game Gear unit that isn't so dang tiny and split into four units with four games in 5-6 months' time...

I'm curious about the fact that 11 of the 16 games have never been localized. If they do end up being released with official localizations, that alone might be enough to get sales outside of Japan. I know a lot of retro game fans would love to play 11 whole games that never saw official release for the first time.

The Game Gear mini 5-pack is all sold out in Japan.

So, what is your guys's favorite soundtracks for this series?

If I had to rank my top favorite Sonic soundtracks, I'd go with:

• 1. Sonic Adventure
• 2. Sonic '06
• 3. Sonic Colors
• 4. Sonic CD Japanese
• 5. Sonic Adventure 2
• 6. Sonic 3 and Knuckles

I just remembered that Sonic Riders showed that whatever planet the Babylon Rogues' ancestors landed on has two moons. In current year Sonic that mean they'd land on Planet Furry (also with the cities being all Jetsons futurelike) except G.U.N.'s there and Eggman's got his company there.

This touches on how one of the problems with the Two-Worlds retcon is that overall it looks to just Flanderize the setting into "zany furry cartoon world with floating donuts against muh human filled gritty realism world" when the games before Unleashed were more nuanced than that (like Sonic Advance 3 having what's obviously New York complete with World Trade Center and a somewhere called Toy Kingdom on the same world messed with by Eggy or Rush having Cream's house on the same world as G.U.N.). As reflected by the movie.

Demake of Forces? Meh, Pokecapn once played a 2D version of Sonic 06 that was able to recreate the original's flaws and then some of its own.

That looks more like a demake of Unleashed actually

God I hate modern Tails. Even if he was already suboptimal from Heroes to 06, he at least acted. And Adventure 1 and specially Adventure 2 Tails was awesome; you may talk the mech down, but that Tails was able to go toe-to-toe with Eggman at his finest.

I hate how we can only play as Sonic.

I hate a lot of the post-06 fallout crap, even if Colors and Generations are amazing.

For the record, I’m talking about how characters are characterized, how much they’ve been leaning on the Classic games, and how much Sonic Team refuses to move on, how much hate the franchise gets from people.

There's a lot of nuanced reasons why the characters are treated the way they are nowadays...

They're just trying to make Tails into Sonic's post-Luigi's Mansion Luigi (more obviously flawed Butt Monkey sidekick).

Because Tails is the only secondary character that gets any type of focus, he needs to be inferior to make Sonic look better and emphasize his hero status...so...uh Tails had to take that hit.

Does he really?

Tails has things he can do that Sonic can't. There's no reason to diminish him to raise Sonic up. Sonic is already pretty high up on his own.

That logic is Goku logic.

I think Colors-Generations Tails is alright since while he didn't fight...he really didn't need to with Sonic just blasting every enemy he came across to shreds, he served the tech support role which was alright (that and I like his interactions with Sonic).

Or maybe this has to do with the fact I don't really care about Tails much.

Because Tails is still treated as his sidekick, Sonic's position is already inherently higher.

And since Tails' contributions are mostly just exposition, he ends up just feeling useless.

If he actually contributed something noteworthy, I don't think people would be as hard on him. But he's the only character who gets special treatment, but doesn't do anything of note.

So yea, he's really just there to play second fiddle to Sonic.

Well that's fair, but I'd rather he actually contribute something instead of being a waste of space.

Him contributing to tech stuff already gives me a reason to exist than Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, Cream, Blaze,etc.

Yeah. The other characters all need a reason to be there, but Tails being the tech guy that Sonic can't gives him a niche.

Hilariously enough, Team Dark are more justified to be around than most of the others (you know, when there was a Team Dark), due to Rogue being a spy, Omega just wanting to crack some Eggman on principle, and Shadow....well back when they weren't ashamed of his backstory, his status as a Gun agent gave him some reason to come into conflict with Eggman.

The others have far less reason to get involved, outside of Amy just following Sonic just because.
