Tortall Knights RP - Interest and Sign-up.

It's Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Players will go from pages to squires to knights of the realm of Tortall. Plot'll happen, this is just a sketchy "who's interested" section, I'll get more done in here later.

I'd like everyone to have at least a 1st-year page, but you can have a second character that starts later if you'd like. If anyone thinks they can play a canon knight well enough, you can offer as well, but be ABSOLUTELY SURE you have their character down pat.

You can have the Gift, but you should be specialized in something, whether illusion, healing, offense, shielding, whatever. I'll assume you can DO it all, but you need some sort of specialization.

1. Name: Ralph Fitzroi
2. Age: 13
3. Rank: Squire at Arms
4. Alignment: Lawful Good / Lawful Neutral
5. Skills (Combat): very good with a sword, has been trained quite extensively due to his teacher being his uncle in a way, he has some survival skills and quite a bit of skill with a long bow.
6. Skills (Gift): not much.
7. Weaknesses/Fears: He fears not living up to his knightly vows once he becomes eighteen. He can be impulsive and brash, and is already a bit of a pervert. This might get him into trouble as a man.
8. Personality: dutiful, loyal to his older brother, who is not a knight and is, rather, pursuing the life of a builder. He would chop off his fingers one by one to make sure "Big Bro" is safe and sound, and would do the same thing to anyone who threatens his brother. Ralph wants to make Big Brother Nathan reconsider and become a squire, but his bull headed arguments never work. He considers becoming a knight the ultimate honor.

He treasures his family bonds, and is quickly down if he detects even a little bit of dislike from any of his family members. He can be a glory hound, especially as he grows older.

1. Appearance: a kid, very much a Cute Shotaro Boy, with already quite angular features and shaggy brown hair. His eyes are light blue. He is much more muscular and wiry than his brother, who can be compared to a reed. He wears his livery proudly.
2. Backstory: A knight's son, he is a youth directly in the line to become a Lordling, specifically of the old home city and surrounding area of Silania, which needed to be temporarily entrusted to the crown while the knightly family paid off some debts to a few merchants. He has been groomed since he showed he was strong to be the heir son. He resents the fact it isn't his older brother receiving the heir son honors and he really, really dislikes the building profession his brother has become an apprentice in.

He is thought to be rather slow on the uptake, but this is a dire misconception. He is, while not book smart, a big fan of military victories and battles, and has read and studied said battles since he was ten.

Anyway, yeah, it's good. Any idea if you've got a knight to apprentice him to?

• Name: Arcani (Arc) of Inshire
• Age: 13
• Rank: Third-year Page
• Alignment: Chaotic Good
• Skills (Combat): Pretty damn good. Excels at swordplay over anything else, not nearly as good at archery or horseback riding as she'd like, but really mostly weak in archery.
• Skills (Gift): None.
• Weaknesses/Fears: She fears love. A lot. She fears any shred of femininity.
• Personality: Stubborn as ALLLLLL Hell. Stoic as best she can, but has a wonderful sarcastic side and can be rather lighthearted among her friends. Defensive, kind of off-putting at first.
• Appearance: Cut her blonde hair really short, like a boy's. Consistently wears loose clothing. Average-size for a boy. Very well-muscled and conceals her gender whenever possible. Let them find out on their own.
• Backstory: Grew up on her family's island, hearing stories about the inclusion of female knights and such. After hearing about what trouble they got, she vowed to shed any femininity she could so she could get in. (That's all for now.)

• Name: Warric of Goldtower.
• Age: 11
• Rank: First-year Page
• Alignment: Lawful Good
• Skills (Combat): Sub-par, mostly. Does his best, best with ranged fighting and he'll work well with the right sword.
• Skills (Gift): Healer and Illusionist.
• Weaknesses/Fears: Sensory deprivation. Total darkness, complete silence, etc.
• Personality: Kind of shy, not very self-confident or confrontational. Clingy.
• Appearance: Scrawny runt. Redheaded and freckled. Dopey smile. Blue-eyed.
• Backstory: He kind of wanted to be something that didn't involve the combat. He's not exactly adventure-crazy. But he's the only boy in his family, having only sisters on either side of him, so his (conservative) parents sent him off.

• Name: Sir Edmund Asectaine
• Age: 42
• Rank: Knight / Lord
• Alignment: Lawful Neutral, dips into Lawful Evil depending on where you stand
• Skills (Combat): Very gifted with a sword, and is handing this Improbable Fencing Powers mixed with Charles Atlas Superpower to Ralph. He uses a greatsword.
• Skills (Gift): next to none beside a blinding spell that deals with light
• Weaknesses/Fears: can be paranoid of betrayal, too honorable, to the point of Lawful Stupid.
• Personality: Impulsive, brave and foolhardy, he likes to charge into fights when he is sure he is in the right. He seems to have a harder time fighting when he is unsure if his side is right.
• Appearance: a tall, blond knight, his hair is not yet receded and his face is still youthful, and is framed by a beard. He likes to wear large armor, fitting his large build which, despite appearances, is not very much fat. His cape is red, with a lion and a sword on the back.
• Backstory: Despite his forward nature, not many people know about this man's history. He is currently training Ralph. His backstory will be expanded upon.

Ooh, fun! I know what I'm reading this evening. And now I want to start a rival Winding Circle RP.

Where in the timeline is this happening?

1. Name: Xavier "Zavi" of Meron and the Watching Desert Fox.
2. Age: 11
3. Rank: First year page
4. Alignment: Lawful Neutral
5. Skills (Combat): A natural at horse riding and archery, and their combination. Slightly better than average at swordplay and unarmed fighting.
6. Skills (Gift): None, but Zavi has the Sight. Part of the basis of his skill with the bow.
7. Weaknesses/Fears: Fire. The sea. And to a lesser degree snakes.
8. Personality: Quiet and observing, preferring to choose his words to maximum effect. Not shy, but quiet. Very sympathetic to other people and does his best to play peacekeeper.
9. Appearance: Tall for his age, and still has a bit of baby fat. Deep tan, dark eyes and curly black hair. A mix of Tortallan and Bazhir qualities.
10. Backstory: Zavi's father is Geoffrey of Meron and his mother Fatima Bassan - the daughter of the Bazhir chief of the tribe of the Watching Desert Fox (the tribe that controls Persopolis). The marriage was arranged to further connect the Bazhir to the rest of Tortall, and Zavi's parents only came to actually love each other when he was about four. Thus Zavi will be the first Bazhir to train at the palace (as opposed to knights that have become Bazhir).

4. Alignment: Neutral Good
5. Skills (Combat): Not very good technically, but wins more than he looses. His preferred methods are unarmed or quarterstaff. His swordplay is rather atrocious (well by the swordsmaster's standards).
6. Skills (Gift): Quite strong, burns a lapis lazuli blue. Talented in the area of shielding and protecting.
7. Weaknesses/Fears: He likes his creature comforts and would be afraid of getting lost in the wilderness.
8. Personality: Cheerful and welcoming, not afraid to make his opinions known.
9. Appearance: Kinda of short and stocky, curly black hair and bright blue eyes. Has a scar on his lower left cheek.
10. Backstory: Second son of the Lord of Linshart, Adrian should have gone to the City of the Gods while is older brother trained as a knight. But their father had the unconventional notion of asking them which they would prefer. Much like Thom and Alanna did but with their father's blessing. Other than that he's more or less any other noble's son.

Changed my page a lot. Rereading the quartet gave me a bit of a fascination with the Bazhir.
