He finds the nearest platform and places the doughnuts and bonbons there and picks up the nearest towel, being careful not to trip up anything.

-Watching Marlowe take care of the Rainbow Wing, Kai picks herself up, and glances around at her new surroundings.-

Kai: ...Uh.

-She glances at Victor and Maurice-

Kai: ...Welcome home??? We are so fucked.

-And she darts down the hallway, tapping a bit on her watch-

Marnie: Aww... You're both too sweet. Now, I take it you're both here for the Gym Challenge. You don't need to answer, I already know. You two are a sensation in the region so far. You get along so well, battling together even though you have completely different teams. It's almost as if you two have a psychic bond.

Evelyn and I: You could say that.

Marnie: Anyways, I hope you both are ready, because I won't hold back. You two carry the light with you, but I was tasked with carrying the dark!

Team Yell Referee: Oy! THE BATTLE BETWEEN MARNIE, THE GYM LEADER AND CHALLENGERS 556, IAN AND EVELYN, WILL NOW BEGIN! The match will be over when all the Pokémon on one side are unable t'battle! Furthermore, only the challengers can substitute their Pokémon!

Evelyn and I: We accept your offer! Bring it!

-They stagger, discombobulated, and take a moment to get their bearings, leaning against a wall with a nearby lightswitch.-

Kai: I've been great! The School hasn't been the only group trying to take out personal grudges on me, so there's never a dull moment! :D

-She digs out Lamarr's ball and releases her.-

Kai: Heyyyy L, break that barrier, 'kay? We gotta move.

Lamarr: <Oh, I love it when you want me to break things!>

-Lamarr plunges her scythes directly into the Reflect barrier, ripping it away apart from itself.-

Hoops: Do it!

Api pulls hard, lifting Peechee into the air and holding him for a few moments.

Api: <Now, suffer as I suffer!>

Many Years Ago...

A Skorupi is in a battle against a Cherubi. It fights hard, and aggressively, but it collapses before it can pull out a win. Its trainer tries to comfort it, but it snaps at them and tries to poison them.

Later, the trainer takes the Skorupi to a specialist, to see why it is so aggressive all the time.

Specialist: I'm afraid that this pokemon has a rare genetic defect. Most poison type pokemon develop an immunity to the poison that they make use of, but this Skorupi appears to have only a limited immunity. While not crippled, it will face near constant pain. There's only one humane thing to do...

The Skorupi doesn't understand what is being said, but it sees the expressions of the trainer and specialist and feels fear. In that fear, it evolves into a Drapion and lashes out at the two of them.

Soon, it is out on the streets and running desperately. People cry out in fear and call for help, and there are soon police on the scene sending out their pokemon against the rampaging pokemon. They chase the Drapion out of the town, but fail to subdue it, before it escapes into the forest.

A few weeks later, with the Drapion continuing to be aggressive and attacking anything that comes near, the ranger arrives. She calmly approaches the Drapion, avoiding its wild swings, and speaks to it with an even voice that the Drapion finds it can understand.

Ranger: They told me about you. Your problem?

Drapion: <It... hurts. All hurts.>

Ranger: I know. I know it does. I'm afraid you have a choice to make, the easy choice and the hard one.

Drapion: <What are they?>

Ranger: The easy choice is that they put you down. No more pain. But the hard choice is that you come and live with me, and let me take care of you. I have a husband, and between you and me, a child on the way. You could be a part of a family. It won't always be good. Your condition won't get worse, but aside from managing the pain there's little that we can do to make things better. But you'll get to have thousands more days of sunshine and opportunities.

Drapion: <Must I decide now?>

Ranger: Take as long as you need. I'll wait here.

And she does. He decides to go with her, and lives the best years of his life with her family. And years later when she is no longer there for him, he feels his pain worse than ever before. And yet he remembers what she said about the potential of the new day, and stays.

And her child is so like her, in so many ways. So he stays to care for them.

Back in the Present

Api slams Peechee into the poisonous ground, shivering in satisfaction.

In the stands, Anna watches the match, and Api in particular, with a small smile on her face.

Vana: Okay, lead the way. I've always wanted to see what goes on inside that guy's head, anyway.

Vana resists the urge to go pale in fear and turns round.

Vana: Radon, we were just talking about you. I want to have a look around your memories.

Hulbury

Platinum: -to Vana- Does your power work better if your target is asleep, or does it make no difference?

Radon: Oh, sure. I've always wondered what goes on in my head.

Hulbury

Vana: It doesn't really make a difference, as far as I know. As long as he's willing to play ball, we shouldn't have a problem.

Hulbury

Platinum: Makes sense. Go for it.

Radon: Ready when you are, Vana.

-Radon then looks over at Platinum and shakes his head. He knows it's not the one he and Ferrum failed to capture, and slowly closes his eyes, allowing Vana into his mind.-

Hulbury

Vana places her hand on Radon's forehead and dives into his mind, searching for the relevant memories. She can't delve deep into memories without giving away that she's looking for them, but she spares quick glances at various memories that she might be able to use to manipulate Radon later on.

Eventually she finds what she is looking for.

Radon's Memories

-One memory shows a scene of the Wild Area where Radon, Ferrum and Aurelia are shown. Aurelia was assisted in fighting him and Ferrum off by a person who looks like they are half-Whimsicott, a Ribombee, and a most confusing sight: One of the trainers assisting Aurelia bears a striking resemblance to Radon, but wearing a red and white cap, a striped shirt, yellow backpack, shorts and sneakers, and he has a Pikachu.-

Vana pulls herself out of Radon's mind and describes the scene to the others.

Vana: I think that trainer with the Pikachu might be a clue - I think I've seen him before, actually. A while ago. What do you two think?

Internally, she ponders the resemblance between Radon and this trainer, and wonders if this is something that she could use somehow.

Hulbury

Platinum: That trainer with the Pikachu? I see... So he's what the failed mission to capture my sister and the time you worked with Ferrum had in common. So here's the plan... Once we find him, I will use my Pokémon to infiltrate his ranks, gather information on Gold, and we'll see what we do from then.

Radon: That trainer? Lead me to him... I seek a rematch with him... Let me come with you!

Hulbury

Vana: And I can ask him about Hoops. They seemed like they were friends. I'd like to come as well. I'm still testing you, after all.

Hulbury

Platinum: Very well. Let's go.

-Radon joined Platinum's party, thinking to himself "This silver-white haired girl is Goldy's sister?"-

-and further, until he finds himself in the driver's carriage, despite appearing twice the size of the car itself-

-doors shut, he starts the engine—surprised to find the keys and dials and levers operable by fingers the size of support beams-

-and rather gingerly activates the turn signal, pulling out onto the track at a moderate pace-

Abilene: -listening closely- And besides—who else would you trust with your very person?

-it's a bit impressive how quickly he intuits the rules of the road, given how it's probably impossible he's ever existed in any sort car here, as big as he is-

(-Rosa heckles him, saying to 'floor it'-)

Morata's Mansion, Study, Nov. 1

The maid's brow creases and she removes her hand from her pocket. Clutched within it is a pokeball, which she makes to throw-

- and which doesn't end up going through. The maid looks confusedly at her hand. Slowly, her face lights up with realization.

She grins, and mutters something in a slight Kalosian accent.

The Maid: "... Hmph, so there is someone in here. For once, the mistress's paranoia is justified."

She reaches into her other pocket and throws out another pokeball, releasing an Aegislash.

The Maid: "I'm not sure how you did it, but pokeballs don't just vanish out of thin air. I'll have to sniff you out before you go dirtying the floors I just cleaned. Jefferson, Aerial Ace."

Jefferson slices through the room at blinding speed, miraculously avoiding the Braviary statue.

Morata's Mansion, Kitchen, Nov. 1

... The maid is on high alert now, but she's certainly thoroughly distracted.

Yoko: "Right, let's-"

Witch: "Hm. I'm going to inform the others just in case they found anything on the other side."

Yoko: "Oh, right. That. Might be smart."

Witch then taps something into her phone.

"Wh- Okay then! And we can't just fight them, can we?"

Campus Palace

Daze is confused and holding on basically by a thread at this point, so that Boomburst very nearly takes her out. By some miracle (or maybe just the stubborn part of her not wanting to pass out and need to get carried out again) she bears it.

Well, if I need to go out again might as well do it with a bang.

Kaguya waits and watches for an opening. As soon as she spots a line through the chaos, she rears back and launches forward.
