Dude What Would Happen is pretty bad too. Yikes.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Wow, that one is..livid? enough that it should probably be completely rewritten.
online since 1993 | huge retrocomputing and TV nerd | lee4hmz.info (under construction) | heapershangout.comJesus H. Christ, we got some Cartoon Network nostalgiafanboys on this site. I say we wipe the page(s) and start over anew.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.*Reads page*
95% bile.
100% accurate.
How do you apply neutrality to total failure? When the company itself tries to rewrite history and pretend it never happened, it's a pretty sure bet there's not a ton of positivity to bring to the table.

Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Part of the problem is the descriptions after the tropes. They don't need that much bile.
And most of the tropes aren't about the programming block itself—they're about the production and reception, which are Trivia and Audience Reactions respectively.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Should we remove most of the tropes and give it a lock after we're done, since I get the feeling that if we don't, it'll just degrade back to what it was before?
I think it should just be nuked. Since CN Real is so hated, the page is Grade A Flame Bait. CN Real can just as well be covered in the Cartoon Network page.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.Oh lordy me this stuff is horrible. I mean yes CN Real is an abortion of television programming but jeeze, you shouldn't be so passive aggressive(or just blatantly aggressive) with a work's main page. YMMV is different, but the main page should be written with neutrality.
I remember making some edits to that page a few months back. I honestly tried to keep things fairly neutral, but I didn't straight up bash everything I saw:
- Dude, What Would Happen?: Jackass meets Myth Busters minus the whole "Scientific Process" that MB actually performs. The idiots who host the show only do stuff just for sheer curiosity to see what would happen. Turning a VW Beetle into a swimming pool? Check. Recreate a prom dance by incorporating Dance Dance Revolution, and then wreck it all up by driving a prom limo around like a demolition derby? Check. See whether peanut butter sticks best to more peanut butter, grape jelly, or bananas by coating the hosts in it and see how long they can stick to an inclined wall? Check.
- The Othersiders: Ghost Hunters with kids!. It was canceled. FAST!
- Survive This: Man Vs Wild and Survivorman... hosted by Survivorman himself. It was canceled rather quickly once many of the kids started requiring medical attention for things that most normal adults would know how to avoid.... like getting your tongue pinched inside a multi-tool.
- So Okay, It's Average: Brain Rush actually wasn't a bad concept for a TV show. Asking questions Cash Cab style while riding a rollercoaster in 3 rounds of elimination between contestants. The winner has an opportunity to double his earnings at the end with one last question, but if he gets it wrong, his winnings are reduced by half instead of getting nothing. It had nothing really going for it, but it wasn't outright horrible.
Those were the edits I made to the page. I think they were fair and not too natterish.
The rest of the page though.. yeah.. It could use a little pinesol to clean it up, but the facts are still accurate despite it's negativity.

I like the idea of merging this with the main Cartoon Network page - if we place it as a footnote, it should discourage complaining.
As I see it, here are the two proposed options:
- Clean then lock the page.
- Cut the page, then merge it into the main Cartoon Network page as a footnote.
Any other options? Any consensus on what to do?
Either would work. It may as well have it's own [locked] page, because I get the feeling people will just put their bile towards it on the Cartoon Network page if it's there.
Which would also happen when they see that the CN Real page is locked.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.Actually, ever since the CN real block has died down (with a few live show exceptions), the page itself has calmed down. Look at the history, we have a bunch only recently made since this thread was made. Before that you have edits on January 26th, 9th, 8th, and December 24th.
Give the page a general clean up and it should be fine. The whole poisonous attitude towards the concept has mostly passed now.
Hmm... I still think we should lock it after we clean it up, since I suspect that the bile may creep back in over time due to tropers who remain bitter, but don't check the page very often.
It won't come back. CN Real is old news. CN themselves made sure of that. The last edit by someone not trying to clean up the page was on January 27th. And discarding the trope page (can tropes even apply to a network block?), there's nothing more negative in it that "it bombed". All it would take is one curator checking the page every week or so for it to stay that way. The Dude What Would Happen page needs serious cleaning, not this.
And I thought complaining was tolerated as long as it wasn't personal, didn't attract natter or flame-warring and didn't make the page a complete mess like My Immortal?

The new It Just Bugs Me!Dunno. Locking should be only done when all else fails since the site doesn't have semi-lock feature. Let's see how monotonous robotic speak works.

Yeah. Complaining is not alowed on the main page.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova Scotian
The whole page is devoted to complaining, and the YMMV page is even worse. Is there any way to clean this up without nuking the entire example section?
I've removed the Darth Wiki stuff, but it's still complaining.
