Unless you are Smash, which is essentially The Avengers of video games.
Where there's life, there's hope.I would actually argue that Smash Bros is beyond the Avengers level but the comparison still works.
Eh, not really. As a comparison about it just being something with immense broad appeal and that outgrosses the others in its genre/field by a wide margin, the comparison works.
No mention that both call themselves "the most ambitious crossover?"
Where there's life, there's hope. The most ambitious cinematic crossover & most ambitious video-game crossover.
Well either Smash or Super Robot Wars there.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I keep forgetting about Super Robot Wars' existence. That series always gave me the impression that copyright over in Japan is a lot more lax compared to here. Especially when you compare to Marvel & DC.
The companies are friendlier with the crossovers. The few times they attempted to try it here, one gear fell off and that killed the whole thing.
Yea, copyright is a bitch
the continued existence of Comiket attests to how lax most Japanese companies are in regards to copyright
on the subject of dead fighting games: whatever happened to games like Ehrgeiz and Power Stone? i'm kind of suprrised there's never been a big game (or hell, any game) in that style since then, could be a great 3D movement analogue to Smash Bros
weaponizing Dungeon Fighter Online elitism since 2018Pokken Tournament was a hybrid of that and tradional fighter, and most b or c grade anime fighters are 3-D arena fighters like those.
There's Dissidia, too.

I still can't believe how much of a downgrade NT was compare to the PSP series.
Can anybody have information about the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary collection? Is it worth getting?
I think Maximillian reviewed it.
Where there's life, there's hope.Only really have personal experience to go off of but if you want good arcade ports of the games then go for it, it’s a lot of games for pretty cheap and the ports are decent. ^^ I personally have it on my switch and I play it a lot between classes and its fine just running through the arcade modes. But local vs. isn’t exactly ideal, no win screens and such, and as everything is directly the arcade ports some games, most noticeably Alpha 3 are missing the home console port additions
Thanks for the info.
And how difficult are the input commands compared to Ryu and Ken's appearance in Smash? Also given this is a Capcom series, I have some concern after some of the sadistic things they did in Battle Network and Classic Mega Man.
Older Street Fighter games have stricter input than newer Street Fighter games and Smash.
Oh, and beware that SFII Turbo arcade mode makes SNK games look like a cakewalk.

Where there's life, there's hope.My top priorities are the "story" mode, simply defeating the bad guys like M. Bison and having fun on the regular vs. mode.
Which leads to the concern of what happens when I'm stuck on a level.

- Whatever the last Under Night's called
- Smash Ulimate
- Dragon Ball Fighterz
- Tekken 7
- Street Fighter V
- Soul Calibur VI
- Samurai Shodown
- Granblue Fantasy Versus
- And Marvel 2 returning in honor of its 20th anniversary.
Granblue's only there because its owner has been sponsoring EVO for a while now, but the fact that Marvel 2 gets a slot the way it does makes me wonder if some of the other games that might of taken its place like a Nether Realm title means those aren't that popular with the EVO going crowd.
So Smash is the finale again?
Where there's life, there's hope.Probably not considering everyone left early last year when it was.
But the schedule hasn't been released yet.
No MK 11 is kinda weird TBH. Feels like there's some politics going on behind that, though whether or not it's on NRS' side or EVO's side remains to be seen.
I just realized no GG either.
I'm no big fan of melee but people getting erections over it being excluded come off as dicks lol.

Granblue being in meant it had to to replace something, and it was definitely going to be either MK 11 or Samsho. I don't know about Samsho, but I occasionally hear buzz about MK 11's community dropping off somewhat.
But probably more importantly to the event, MK 11 is significantly less monetizable than pretty much any fighting game ever. At least you can turn the blood and dismemberment off in Samsho.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. There have also been complaints I see a lot from people who feel that the slower paced gameplay in MK 11 makes it significantly less fun to watch than MK X or 9.
Still, I was hoping we'd see Spawn at Evo! The dream is dead!
I blame lethal blows. They take would take way too much airtime. There's a reason fatalities are banned, and it ain't the ultraviolence.
I'm painfully aware of this. There's a reason why the fighting genre is still considered a niche one.
