That damned programme gave me a taste for cherry pie. I hate cherries.
They haven't shown it here in years. I was actually thinking of buying it on DVD.
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'See if your local cable provider carries Chiller, they run marathons of it during daytime hours sometimes.
This show freaked me the fuck out when I was a kid... I was like 10 when it started its initial run, and because I was into Knots Landing at the time and the previews would have you believe that it was along those lines I watched the first two episodes. And had nightmares for like 6 weeks.
I got back into it as an adult thanks to the aforementioned syndication on Chiller, and fell in love with it. I guess getting into horror as a teenager made me immune to whatever freaked me out about it before.
On a related note, any Julee Cruise fans here? The last episode I watched on Chiller heavily featured her song "The World Spins", and I liked it so much I went out and bought her CD the next day. Turns out it's produced by David Lynch and Twin Peaks soundtrack maestro Angelo Badalamente (sp?), and features some instrumental parts from the show's score on a few songs... very on-topic album for this discussion.
Jesus saves. Gretzky steals, he scores!I watched the whole series on DVD over a fairly short period of time. It hooked me from the first moment (y'all complaining about the pilot are still bonkers)... which made it all the more painful when it went rapidly downhill.
The finale saved it, sort of. It was a great episode but not such a fantastic stopping point.
Except [condescending response follows]. Because [sarcasm here]. You do understand [snark], right? POTHOLE TO SARCASM MODETP is historic.
FILM editing and techniques come to TV.
Yay!

There is a theory about the ending, I don't remember where I've heard it, but I think it's good, it talks about how the third season would have started with Cooper, Audrey & Pete trapped in the Black Lodge and forced to get out. The reason for Audrey and Pete also being there is because in the scene where the bank explodes, you can only see Andrew Packard's glasses fly out of the blast : the theory is that the bank clerk is an avatar of the Giant, and that he transported both himself, Pete and Audrey in the lodge mere seconds before the bomb is set off. I think this is very interesting but, of course, we'll never know. All that is known is that there was supposed to be another season after that at some point. There is also an additional element supporting that theory, in Fire Walk with Me, the scene where you can see a blood-soaked Annie Blackburn appear on the bed beside Laura, she tells her that "the good Dale is trapped in the Black Lodge". But, maybe that's just me...
Personally, I love the ending. It still gives me shivers each time I even do so much as replay it in my head.
Well, Twin Peaks IS my favorite tv show of all time...
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here. That is interesting. I know Lynch did alter the explosion scene a bit from his direction compared to the script. I've forgotten some of it, but the positions of the characters were moved about, and Pete wasn't supposed to be there. Considering Lynch's love of using Jack Nance it's almost certain it wasn't to kill Pete off.
Of course you may know all that already. I love Twin Peaks, but I don't know what is common knowledge amongst it's fandom.
Am I a good man or a bad man?I don't know the "official fandom word" on that either. I just always thought of that interpretation as the most satisfying, so I stuck with it. And really when you replay the last episode thinking about it, it does make sense.
And I agree with you on Lynch and Jack Nance, he wouldn't have killed him off if there was any chance for a third season, and they wrapped up shooting of the second season quite some time before it aired, I believe they actually finished shooting the last episode just as the first episode from season two aired, so the ending we have now I think is not what Lynch had envisioned as an ending for the series. Look at some interviews at the time where he repeatedly stated that he wanted to keep on with the series.

You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here.Started watching this series recently on Netflix. Last night I watched the episode that introduces Gordon Cole, Agent Cooper's boss (played by Lynch himself). Why does Cooper remind him of a small Mexican Chihuahua? I don't know. But I do know every moment that focuses on him doesn't focus on the James/Donna/Maddy love triangle and their Scooby-Doo detective antics. The "we can find the killer better than those dumb old grown-ups" thing stopped being cute back in Season 1. Please tell me it comes back to bite them eventually.
Just finished my first watch-through of the show late last night. One of my first thoughts after seeing that last scene?: "I really hope this doesn't give me nightmares". It didn't that I could tell, but close thing. For some reason seeing Cooper posessed was a lot creepier than the idea of Leland Palmer in the same situation. Especially as a last episode/scene. I was holding out hope of something good happening with the bad - if love opens the white lodge, there were a lot of couples in love in Twin Peaks that night - but of course not.
She of Short Stature & Impeccable Logic My Skating LiveblogThat's one part about the pilot that I liked. (I learned about the ending from osmosis, like The Prisoner.) We see Cooper's fate at the end of the pilot, an old man stuck in the Lodge while his demon-possessed self goes on to earn medals for his service in the FBI.
I'm a skeptical squirrelYeah, I borrowed the discs from my local library and the pilot was corrupted, so I saw everything but the pilot. Dangit!
She of Short Stature & Impeccable Logic My Skating LiveblogWell, after watching the first 2 episodes on Syfy, I can officially say I'm hooked.
Direct all enquiries to Jamie B GoodIt's one Sy Fy? Since when? And when is it on?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWeeknights at 10.

Direct all enquiries to Jamie B GoodI remember seeing glimpses of it while my mom was watching it on Netflix.
And I saw the Psych episode "Dual Spires".
So…
What the heck was up with that BOB dude? He was just a super-evil demon, right? Part of me wants to think he's half demon, half alien or something.
And I guess Laura Palmer wasn't as nice as the first few episodes implied, right?
And is anyone hoping the show gets revived via Netflix or Hulu or whatever?
-Bump de Bump-
Yeah, I tried to get into Twin Peaks, I really did. I will say that I am agreeing with how creepy it is and I loved the weird unaddressed stuff that would seemingly happen during scenes (the table of doughnuts springs to mind), but yeah I couldn't get it to it. Since I'm from the town where they filmed the outdoor shots, I kept getting hung up on all the places I recognized.
But I thought it was pretty neat aside from that...
