The Eladrin/Elf proficiencies only come up if you play a class that doesn't already have them and you are inclined to sort of play against type like with wizards or clerics. Elven Paladins have bows which is q bit different.
On the other hand, it seems to me that Dwarven Clerics would be particularly nasty because the bonus stats mesh perfectly with the class: if you were willing to take a 12 and three 10s in your other stats, both wisdom and con would be 18 which gives you +4 on your attacks and lots of healing surges for cure spells.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are probably right.Nah, man, you want to see something go down, you get a party of Shard Minds.
- shudder*
4th edition races... hard to choose, but I really like the themes & possibilities behind Gnolls, Shadar-Kai, Muls and Eladrin. Actually, to be honest, I kind of like all of the races equally.
For third edition... Adu'jas and Gruwaars (a pair of races from the same issue of Dragon Magazine) have a very interesting appeal to me. To be honest, I've not been that big a fan of 3.x since 4e came out.
Hey, anyone else having a problem where the first page refuses to show any post after #22?
me being actually on topic for once. my favorite race to play is Kobold.
Add me on skype! Dynamod1990Elf and Human.
Troper PageI like to play the small races. There is some fun in playing up the size difference. I've had a gnome who had at one time been casually swinging his hook hand (was an ex-pirate) around at what was eye level to him while discussing the rewards for a quest (quest giver was male). I've had a haling that kept trying to get piggy back rides from the warforged before she got a saint bernard.
My favorite ones however would be Eberron gnomes and Dragonlance kender.
So, after much consideration, I have determined something: KOOOOOBOOOOOOOLDS, bitches! I recently made a Kobold Rogue that kicks more ass than I ever thought possible. All that mobility comes in handy. I'm also considering a Kobold Warlock... And a Kobold Assassin... And a Kobold any-frickin'-thing-else-I-can-shoehorn-in, too.
My name is Cu Chulainn. Beside the raging sea I am left to moan. Sorrow I am, for I brought down my only son.Tieflings and Half-elves.
Dwarves and Changelings.
My other signature is a Gundam.^^^ My favorite one-shot character ever was a Kobold Avenger, whose backstory was that this happened◊ and he decided it was divine intervention, dedicating himself to the goddess of luck as a result.
Productivity is for people without internet connections. -Count DorkuAasimar, Tiefling, Githzerai :p
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntUm... Dwarves and humans, I guess. Humans get a big plus due to adaptability and extra feats, etc. in 3rd edition, of course. And dwarves are just all around pretty awesome dudes.
If I could play as any race though, I'd probably go with, um, goblins. Because ever since I started playing Warhammer (read: since I was 5), I've always loved the sneaky little bastards in whatever guise they may take.
Least favourite is easily elves, though. Pretentious poncy gits that they are. >.<
A Kobold barbarian is a surprisingly good choice. Shifty = chargespam.
Pages Needing ImagesHalf-elf. I digged the racial tension I got from just about everyone.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Gnome. I get to have all sorts of fun with my classes, including a monk who practices Undead Tiger Style.

...and that's terrible.Like I was saying, Kobolds are awesome! Shifty is such a versatile power that you can get perfect positioning in any fight, by yourself. single-handedly, it lets you:
- Disengage enemies
- achieve flanking
- get an extra 5ft. step in movement
- re-engage enemies you've pushed/slid away. (good for fighters)
- maneuver into/out of the center of combat (good for strikers)
- reserve your move action for jumps/acrobatics.
How good are Kobold monks?
likely pretty awesome, since even the base 4e monk uses dexterity. Probably best as an Iron Soul Martial Artist from Psionic Power.
Add me on skype! Dynamod1990I have a band of orcs in one of my game. The adventurers allied with them. Now the adventurers are fucked because the orcs are like, level 8 when they're only level three. Orcs are the best.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!4e: Tieflings because Horn jokes never get old
3.Xe LA+0: Dwarf because their the reason I can play straight fighter without crying, plus beards are sexy on the womans
3.Xe LA+1=<: Vecna God-Blooded Spirit Hellbred because nothing demands more wangnst then a bastard child of a god-lich who was regected from hell
Follow me, into the Plane of NightmaresHalf-Dragons. Turn my wizard from Squishy into... Well, this.◊ With a Monk dip.

...and that's terrible.Doppelgangers are the best race ever. Tieflings are a close second, and humans the default third for me.
Does 4e have celestials or something close yet? Cause Devas just rub me the wrong way.
The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.some divine paragon paths and epic destinys can lead to becoming celestial, but I don't think there is any starting race other than deva associated with them.

this isnt an estimation, ive seen this shit go down. and entire party of elves with no regards to character creation strategy as far as races can hit reasonably efficiently enough that the potential -1 to attack, damage, and modifiers was overcome by the ability to outmanuever opponents and consistently hit fast enough to end battles before it became an issue. it was only against bosses that they were slowed down, and in those cases the wizard had dailies. ugh.
