I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but Ashley now speaks Japanese (although the kind of heavily accented Japanese often used by foreigners in anime). Must be a benefit of Ashley's VA being bilingual.

"Kawaii" is still displayed in english all-caps.

Just a random thought I had while listening to the show's soundtrack. One of the songs in the Rebellion OST is called "one for all." Aside from the obvious My Hero Academia joke, it brought up an interesting point of contrast between Madoka and Homura. Madoka sacrificed herself for the sake of all magical girls, so she's "One for All." Homura, on the other hand, gave everything for a single individual, even rewriting the universe for the sake of one person. Her precise motivation is up for interpretation, but overall, we can agree that she would be "All for One" in this case. Again, this is just a random thought/character contrast. Take it as you will.

I's want to ask if there were any story updates lately, as I heard a character associated with both Neo Magius and Folklore of 0 was recently released.

Alright I had been wondering a little for...how exactly there is still a masquerade to the point where even Kyubey is surprised that the existence was concealed at current (OTOH, its Kyubey so take anything they say with piles of salt) and I'm beginning to think the reasons the existence of witches and magical girls are partially systemic.

Like it is established that some muggles knew of the meguka thing (Touka's uncle, Kyoko's parents and the politicians that exploit the Tokumes in Jasper), but I think that the scale of magical girls combined with their relative scarcity as well as the Witches being Invisible to Normals had played a large part of hiding them unwittingly, and the insiders (namely the meguka) prefer to keep a lid on things to avoid...

  • being believed but sidelined by people that can not defeat witches.
  • being exploited, experimented on and prejudiced against. (not like there isn't any precedent)
  • being targets by other meguka wanting to keep the cat in the bag.

It is rather interesting, and I'd like to ask if there are any other reasons why the magical girls aren't quite public knowledge.

In Kazumi Magica, several people who know about magical girls have been trying to break the masquerade since childhood, to no avail. Their attempt caused them to get labeled insane by the public. It's likely that the politicians that create the supply-demand situation for magical girl contract intend to keep the knowledge a secret so they can monopolize the magical girl population between the normies for their own need. Given that Oriko's dad is ignorant of the meguca existence, the conspiracy is likely controlled by super old lineages. As in House Romanov or House Yamato level and their extensions.

What we know from the preview;

  • Someone has been watching Homura using her time-loops.
  • There's going to be some sort of connection with Magia Record, called the Scene 0. Likely resolving the cliffhanger about Madokami's vinyl record and the Folklore of 0 faction.
  • A new character; named Aoi Mabayu (name's romanization still pending).
  • Urobuchi had the script since he finished Kamen Raider Gaim, which ended in 2014.

I think this would end one of 3 ways.

  • The Downer but kinda on-brand ending of Homura going way off the deep end that her demise and both necessary and inevitable. That said I highly doubt Madoka would be the one to kill her unless the point is to shatter her ideology and beliefs into millions of itty-bitty pieces. (itself a rather sysiphian effort considering all the shit she's been though).
  • A more traditional bid for Madoka(mi) to try to bring Homura back to relative normalcy.
  • A rather bittersweet end where Madoka and Homura realize that their negative influences on each other are getting too much to bear and wind up going their separate ways. Managing different parts of the post-Incubator Magical Girl system
  • Bonus points if Madoka and Homura wind up split from their more divine aspects AND magical girl lich powers and wind up together even though their ascended forms cannot.

With that said I am also curious as to if Nagisa and Hitomi would have a larger role in this film, and what this means for Magia Record (as in would ending the Madoka meta-narrative also end Magireco's? If so would it be a Downer Ending that invokes Doomed by Canon? Would there be some adaptation or tie in of this film's events, and would some of the cast of the game make cameo appearances in this film?)

[up]On that note, the new girl looks like a mix of Alina, Ren and Haanatongue. the other revealed parts also hint at Time Police or Clock Roaches elements. Regarding Urobuchi...It does feel like the concepts have a tendency to be finished way before the respective work is greenlit with this franchise...

Glad to hear that There is a Magireco tie in.

NGL, when I think Clock Roaches or Time Police, my mind immediately clicks to the fourth-dimensional Testicle Monsters from Rick & Morty.

...I wonder if those guys have a policy for people abusing timeloops.

I've gone back and forth on whether Homura was right or wrong, so I don't know how I want them to follow up Rebellion. Other than eventually making the other 3 gods themselves so that none of them can actually fight each other without upsetting the cosmic balance of the universe.

[up] A magical girl pantheon huh? Seems interesting, though it might cheapen the the idea a bit. (though at least it takes place in the timeline where a certain meguka supremacist isn't neither a meguka or alive)

Also you know that if it does happen, the comment and chats would chant "Become as Gods"tongue

Something interesting I'd seen pointed out about the announcement. The original series title had the most stand out word written all in pink and is focused on Madoka. Rebellion's title had the most stand out in written in purple, and is all about Homura. The announcement stuff has the most stand out in...yellow, so Mami focused movie perhaps?

Oh no. Holy Mami is breaking into the canon!tongue

Jest aside, the concept movie trailer did hint at a focus on her and she and Kyoko are currently the only puella magi whose aren't gods or formally deceased as far as the timeline's concerned. And Charlotte snacking on her head meant that she was the least devouped of the three (which I think contributed to her getting her own spin off via "the different story" as well as a more prominent role in Magireco and to a lesser extent Rebellion)

Huh, we actually have a trailer. I wasn't expecting that in this decade.

Also, put me down as "Homura snapped, trapped her friends in a dream world without their consent and robbed Madoka of the very thing she chose to sacrifice herself for. As Uncle Iroh had said, 'She's crazy and she needs to go down'".

...Seriously, all you had to do was just let Godoka (or, in this case, Christdoka, considering the whole "lord and savior, sacrificed themselves for all Magical Girls) take you up into the heavens, lady. Movie'd be over right then and there but noooooo... >_<

Still, hopes for Sayaka to make due on her "I'll never forget nor forgive this" oath of vengeance. Kind of a stunning last statement from one of the people besides Homura who knows what's going on.
