Martial Arts Thread

Old one got lost in the purge, so here it is. What kind of stuff do you do? How long have you been doing it?

I did kung fu for about 8 years, Aikido for about a year, and now I'm doing Capoeira.

I did iaijutsu for about four years before leaving to focus on college; I also studied tang soo do for about a year.

Have done some informal study, off-and-on, of fencing, savate, tai chi, and ba gua, but I wouldn't say I know them.

I'm interested in doing Eskrima.

Used to do Tae Kwon Do, now in Shotokan.

I'm interested in formally learning the stuff I said I looked into.

I wouldn't mind learning long fist, either.

Jiu jitsu, for about 7 months? I'm a yellow belt.

Took karate for exactly one day when I was seven years old, punched instructor in the crotch, got expelled.

Doin' the Renaissance European, German school.  ^*

What's a good martial art to learn for someone who's 6"3'? If possible, I'd like a martial art focusing on deflection/parrying/countering, and brutal single strikes, as well as ranged striking.

I'm a boxer and a fencer. Who needs Eastern martial arts when you can deck bitches in the face and/or stab them?

I do Tae-kwon-do and Thai-kickboxing.

I have a red-black belt in Tae-kwon-do, and am an assistant instructor.

I do Thai-kickboxing on Sundays, that's pretty fun. My instructor does the "authentic" version, which basically means that he pretends we're in Thailand and that we students aren't puny whiny Americans.

It involves a lot of personal injury. A lot of it. Which is fun.

My ultimate motivation at this point is my crush, who attends class almost every single day of the week, making her the only regular other than myself.

Line Combat I&II Marine Corps Martial arts mixed skill level <-5 Years worth. Japanese Style Jiu-Jitsu (forgot the style name)<- Roughly a year worth. It augmented my military trianing nicely.

Karate, judo, and a bit of BJJ. There's also the krav maga; I'm also comfortable with shooting people.

I've been studying Northern Shaolin Kung Fu (informal/self-teaching) for the past two months, and English archery for a bit longer.

I know how to fence. I've just not done anything with it in five years.

I like the sound of krav maga.
