Smirking at a another person realizing how crazy these games are.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).If they were too upfront with how crazy the games are, it could jack up the age rating on the games even further. You don't want this series to become "No More Heroes Forever", do you?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyWell, they did do somewhat well. The first one did well enough to warrant a sequel, and eventually a whole franchise and it's by far Grasshopper's most successful game series.
Spurred by the below review, I think my recalled memories of the first two games, or the meta take on both games' themes and gameplay:
- No More Heroes 1 - The emptiness of base desire, given "unlife".
- No More Heroes 2 - Emotion trapped by emotionless commercialism.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyOk, I have officially finished Desperate Struggle. Holy fucking shit.
Now, onto Travis Strike Again, hopefully I'll be done with it just in time for III.
I can't say goodbye to yesterday…When's III come out, anyway. I'm going to lament not spending money on a Switch now.
Desperate Struggle's not as good as the first one I think, but still, I'm pretty nostalgic thinking about it. The Margaret and Alice fights are some of the most memorable in the series.
Playing as Henry and Shinobu for such a limited time was disappointing.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).And that's Travis Strikes Again done.
Wow.
My hype for III is through the fucking roof.
I can't say goodbye to yesterday…Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but Margaret might be the only somewhat morally decent person in the UAA.
I can't say goodbye to yesterday…They're all assassins. It's not a career for morally decent people.
Disgusted, but not surprisedHolly in the first game was pretty decent. And I'd say Alice was way more moral than Margaret. Margaret wasn't shown as terribly moral. Affable and a Graceful Loser, but not really moral.
Death Metal also is basically similar to Alice in that he doesn't care for his assassin lifestyle and is looking to leave it and happy to die to do so.

I'd say there's few actively awful ones, but also few actively nice ones. A lot of neutrals, like Harvey, Charlie, and others.
Assassins that seem like they'd be decent to be around: Death Metal, Holly, Harvey, Speed Buster, Nathan, Ryuji, Margaret, Vladimir, Alice.
Maybe more, but that might be thinking with your dick.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyAffability of course isn't the same thing as morality.
It's sort of a running theme that being an assassin is no kind of life for anyone but the most depraved.

Disgusted, but not surprisedJesus christ no lol
- Speed Buster: noooooo
- Nathan: throws his women at you then slices them up during an attack rush
- Ryuji: only communicates with sexual-sounding noises
- Margaret: a lolita sitting on a mall rooftop with a sniper rifle, singing songs about how she's too pure for you
- Vladimir: a Cosmonaut with a Kill Sat that he randomly fires at people, thinking he's still in outer space
- Alice: she's hot and sentimental sure, but she's as bloodthirsty, even told Travis that she and the other assassins were too addicted to the violence to leave
I mean, in regard to Alice she has the point that she's too addicted to leave so she opts to die instead. It's basically the same with Death Metal; he doesn't like what he is so he wants to die but he can't just stop and he won't commit suicide.
Also now that you mention it, Vladimir is probably the most "moral" because he's the least sane; he only hurts others because he's detached from reality. There's no malice or even selfishness, he believes he's performing his duty.

(2) Valid!
I swear back when I played the first game in high school, I had no idea this song would be a source of such controversy and nostalgia. I mean it wasn't even a particular standout for me compared to some of the rest of the soundtrack. It played when you went into an optional weapon upgrade screen.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Controversy... I still can't believe anyone would dislike Heavenly Star.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyWait, why did it get controversy? First time hearing that.
Watch SymphogearNo not that the song was bad. But isn't this the song that was taken out of the rerelease due to some massive rights issue.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Just give a quoteblock. Beyond 5 arrows, few people are going to care or count.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI think the "controversy" is referring to the "controversy about its removal."
Like, without exaggeration the reason I bought NMH 2 and avoided 1 on the Switch was because NMH 1 without that song is just... wrong.

That. It's just I'd barely noticed the song, maybe because I hadn't played the game in so long, but when I heard there was uproar about it being removed I was a little surprised. I never spent enough time in Naomi's shop to appreciate the whole song.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Why was it removed?
Rights issues?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I believe so.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).
They didn't do very well, and weren't advertised a lot due to their violent nature on what was seen on a Family Friendly console. Same with Mad World.
