It should be noted that part of the reason why a lot of people think FE is overrepresented and not Mario or Pokémon is because while the latter two are pretty much the biggest franchises in gaming, FE is not.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!A 9th Fire Emblem character
Nintendo, as they literally jam it down people's throats: 'Do you love FE yet?! Do you!? DO YOU!?!?!'
-Witty line-I'm pretty sure Geno would split the fanbase even more but that's up in the air.
Goku is certainly the one that would cause more outrage but that's never happening, never ever
Uni catI kind of want them to add a 9th Fire Emblem character now, as the last DLC character in the pack, just for the sheer audacity of it. The last character ever added to Smash, EVER, is a Fire Emblem character.
True enough, but it is big enough in Japan at least. That gamble of one Nintendo's higher ups paid off and he's giving the franchise love.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Smash has become far too profitable for Nintendo to stop with Ultimate and the next one will need new characters to keep people interested.
I missed the part where that's my problem. You say that in jest, but I'm still silently hoping for Goku to get in if only so that I can have the faintest of hope that fucking Inu Yasha would get in.
Anyways, I'm playing some of Crash N'Sane Trilogy on Switch, and I'm beginning to personally want Crash in as a fighter. Same with Sora actually now that I've played a little bit of Kingdom Hearts 1. Neither of them are dethroning Neptune as my most wanted fighter but I see the potential.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I do wonder if they've got anything special or unexpected planned for the final fighter, knowing it'll be the last one added to Ultimate.
Love her or hate her, Bayonetta was at least the winner of the Smash 4 poll, making her somewhat of a special choice for Smash 4's final DLC character.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!"B-b-BuT tHe BaLlOt WaS rIgGeD!!"

IIRC, Bayonetta generated quite a bit of hype when she was announced. It's her gameplay, not her inclusion, that people didn't like about her.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Re: reactions to Byleth, my reaction was as follows:
- Early January: the Dante bandwagon is just working themselves into a shoot.
- Late January: lol, HOES MAD
- February through October: Byleth is getting unduly blamed, and is quite unique as swordsmen go. Also, Female Byleth should be the main one. Her face and overall design are cute.
- October to early November: time for me to do my latest round of "how would I 'fix' the Smash roster!" There's nothing wrong with Byleth, but i figure I'll look into her more a bit.
- November: Damn those tights are sexy! And I'm seeing some music recommendations. But who is this "Edelgard" people keep mentioning?
- Now: You know, I hate it when writers just decide "I hate our characters. No one gets to be happy." Especially since the world sucks enough as it is, and we need some genuine kindness. Also, how damn much story is there in this game? Even if I wanted to, I don't have enough time to watch one of those "game movies", especially since there's apparently No canon ending?
Well... time to look at Lady Byleth's legs again.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyIf it’s going to be a non-video game character (though unlikely) you all know that I’ll be wanting Popeye in Smash due to his Nintendo connections.
Check out Rogues Gallery Transplant: The GameI've always preferred Male Byleth to Female Byleth because they're supposed to be stoic with little emotion and the male Byleth pulls that off a lot better than the female version.
It's been 3000 years…Same. Jeannie Tirado's performance has a little too much vocal affect for my liking.
Allegra Clark's Shamir in the same game better conveys an Emotionless Girl than her.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Female Corrin should have been default Corrin.
-Witty line-Given how FE gets treated by the general public it's no wonder that Nintendo doesn't bother reviving F-Zero & the Mother series.
I keep forgetting the worst thing that can happen to a series or a franchise is being relevant & popular.
I'm pretty sure they don't revive the Mother series because Shigesato Itoi had and has no intention of ever making another one after Mother 3.
Trans rights are human rights.Female Corrin is much better than Male Corrin due to the outfit being a much better fit for her. And while we're at it, I honestly can't tell which is better between Male and Female Robin except the female's alts are much better.
It's been 3000 years…Yeah, Itoi confirmed long ago that MOTHER 3 is the final entry in the franchise (fitting considering that the game ends with the universe being destroyed). And considering how many years the game spent in Development Hell, can you really blame him?
I like Female Corrin's design better in Smash than in Fates itself because her armor doesn't have the dumbass panty window.

Trans rights are human rights.Hell, despite being completed, Mother gets a lot of new stuff in Smash.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.
Its unlikely any future character will match the vitriol that Byleth got.
Even a Gen 8 Pokémon's most negative response would be closer to a cynical "I knew it" than outright antipathy.
Still waiting for a Legion of Losers movie...
