Banjo is the only (non-Nintendo) Rare character I really wanted. He's my favorite DLC character so far. But if I couldn't have him, my number-two choice would be Sabreman. The Alex Kidd of Rare.

I hate to bang the "But Bayonetta!" drum, but... if Bayonetta isn't too risque for Smash, then neither is Conker.

Conker himself doesn't really swear a whole LOT...

So, it shouldn't be too bad really to have him not do it at all.

I honestly think this will be the last Smash Bros fighting game as we now know it, unless Nintendo makes another director do a somewhat different take on it.

Spinal from Killer Instinct would be DOPE, especially with his 2013 design.

What do you think the reaction would’ve been if we had gotten Bernadetta and Bandana Dee (Both as separate characters) instead of Byleth?

I think people would be calling Sakurai and his team a bunch of mad lads for bundling two characters in one fighters pass while the rest were only one character.

I think Bernadetta, popular though she may be, would be a very bizarre choice given she's not even a main character in Three Houses. She's just one of the minor students you get from the Black Eagles house.

I think if Sony were to get a rep (Impossible that may be). I think either Sly Cooper or Ratchet and Clank could fit.

Sly Cooper because his dev Sucker Punch Games had their first game be the N64 title be Rocket: Robot on Wheels so why not have the Sony dev who made their debut with an N64 game have the character that put them on the map, plus I think he could be interesting.

Ratchet and Clank because of how popular that series is and how it had lasted pretty long. Plus besides Spyro, they are one of the most well known IP’s that Insomniac Games made.

I wish we had a Boss Battle mode rather than having to ascend and beat up puppet fighters on the way up.

I still can't believe this isn't a game mode. At this point, I doubt we'll ever get it.

A create your own spirit battle would be a fun mode. Take any of the spirits you've unlocked and then craft a specific battle around it with your conditions to share with other players online.

I wonder if Super Smash Maker would have to be a new game altogether?

So, I've had this thought in my head today about what Rare characters we could have gotten instead of Banjo. (Not counting Krystal or any DK characters)

My main thoughts were:

Zitz (Battletoads) Conker (Conker's Bad Fur Day) Joanna (Perfect Dark) Riptor (Killer Instinct)

I would pick any of those characters over Banjo & Kazooie except for Riptor.

MY KI rep would be either Jago, Fulgore, Spinal, or Orchid.

...They're making a new Battletoads?

Yea, the initial receptions leave a lot to desire.

Who's one of the most prominent characters in Sea of Thieves? Maybe we could get a Pirate in Smash?

We do have at least one playable pirate: Ridley. Though he's probably not the kind of pirate most people think of.

I seriously doubt it, even if the next sequel has impossible standards to live up to.

Of all the things DBZ could be remembered for I never would've imagined that one security robot would be one of them.

I guess Kakarot is a better game than I thought.

I don't know much about Bernadetta other than FEH, but it's not all that hard to imagine that people would be still pissed off because what game she's from. I still don't know why there's so many fan arts of her & Pirihina Plant?

Actually I do remember there was a bandwagon for Edelgard even before 3 Houses came out.

Now that I know she's a controversial character, I'm pretty sure there would've been an Internet Backdraft if Edelgard playable.

I think she would've been a better choice than Byleth being a magic axman but people made it pretty clear there's a disdain for Fire Emblem as a whole.

I feel like Edelgard would have been a better received pick than Byleth because she's a heavyweight axe user who happens to be a villain.

While Sakurai himself likes to overwork, at least he shows concern towards other people to the point that he immediately wants to hold development when someone in the development is shown to be positive.

I'd say it's not so much that Sakurai necessarily likes to overwork, so much as it is a cross between Japan's general work culture and this game essentially being his magnum opus.

You could just bundle Pac-Man/Yoshi/Lucario the same way you did the first three.

But it is nice to know that there's 21 mandatory characters, basically 29% of the roster.

No new spirit today, just pink spirits. Was hoping they'd pull something like black spirits, adding a Warframe spirit.

I thought they already added the Warframe spirit?

I think Ooka's referring to something like the Warframe spirit, where's it's one new one in between the old ones.

Yeah that, though nothing pink in particular comes to my mind. Astolfo?

Bandage Girl comes to mind.

Sakura Shinguji would have been the obvious choice.

The theme of the event is even based around cherry blossoms.

What would your opinion be if say... Byleth or Corrin were made the Butt-Monkey of a reveal trailer for someone like Crash Bandicoot, Bandana Waddle Dee, or Waluigi?

Like I could see Waluigi’s reveal have him bust into Garreg Mach Monastery to accuse someone of stealing his invite and it would make you think Joker did it only to reveal that of all people that Sothis stole his invite and gave it to Byleth with evidence too. The fighters would be shocked and glare at Byleth who would run off leading to gameplay of Waluigi being shown off. Maybe have it end with Walugi slugging a bob-omb at Byleth who’s sent flying before the shocked students all try to gang up on the purple freak who clearly shows himself to be willing to take them all on.

If that did happen, I would forever hate the Mario cast (or at the very least Waluigi) for the massive double standards treatment.

I already hated how they did that with Ken jobbing against Incineroar

I think the whole double standard with the Mario cast is because most of them have mostly unique move sets (With the exception of Daisy, Dr. Mario, and I guess Luigi) Lots of them have unique moves like with Mario, DK, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, and Bowser Jr and due to the fact that Fire Emblem has 4 characters with similar move sets and most of them had swords
