The only thing I'm certain on is the ARMS guy as DLC.
It's been 3000 years…Elma is still my most confident single character prediction.
I'm pretty confident about getting someone new from Xenoblade at least. Behind that, either Dixie or K. Rool, though I'd prefer the latter if we can only have one. I'd also love to see a new third party like Rayman, especially with him coming back into relevance now.
I'll say for most likely characters it's Decidueye, Elma, and Dixie as an Echo or unique fighter.
If Dixie's an Echo that spells good things for K.Rool.
Otherwise I'm just gonna sit in my corner and hope for Geno.
I just want Isaac.
and I would give anything in the world for this guy◊
Edit:
One thing I've wondered about, does general obscurity determine if a character is added, like if someone suggested like Eternal Darkness to them would they go "It's got it's fans sure,but..it's not mainstream"

New theme music also a boxI am anticipating somebody from DK. I can't see them not adding one at this point. The series is popular, recent, good selling, and not oversaturated in Smash. If they skip DK this game, I would believe that there IS a bias against it.
-Witty line-Ice Climbers and Duck Hunt Duo are in it, and there was that video a while back that made a surprisingly plausible case for Mach Rider. Popularity helps, but it's not the only thing.
I am intrigued as to how you'd turn Mantorok into a playable character.
Ukrainian Red CrossI think obscurity keeps prospective choices down, Sakurai has stated he doesn't pick characters from games that don't have a future, but at the same time I think that there are characters who, if demanded enough, can get considered, like K.Rool and Geno.
I think Sakurai did want Geno back into Brawl, and knows very much about Geno's popularity, so he's likely to get in.
I think Geno has two big points against him:
- Regardless of his cult fanbase he's still a one-off character from a 20+ year old game.
- His main selling point to Sakurai was having a gun for a hand, which Mega Man and Mii Gunner have. With the costume for the Gunner already made when Ultimate had started development Sakurai might consider that enough and leave it at that.

who?
i was referring to the skeleton

New theme music also a boxSaying that because Mii Fighters have a costume of him he doesn't have a chance is a real weaksauce argument.
For one, having a gun in the hand is not all of Geno's character.
For second, Mii Fighters use all sorts of abilities that Geno doesn't have.
Third, look at them Inklings making it in despite being "just dudes with guns" with a Mii costume.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."The Inklings were about as guaranteed to appear in the next Smash as any character could possibly be. It's not the same as a cult favourite like Geno.
If Geno were in Ultimate why make the costume for the Mii Gunner when Ultimte was already in development and have an interview in early 2016 where he talks about why he wanted Geno in the game, after the new roster has been finalized?
I'm loathe to admit it, but Geno's not getting in.
It's funny how much the Switch port of Tropical Freeze has invigorated DK fans. It's not even a new game, just a port of a game from 2014 with a few extra features, and yet it's enough to make DK 'recent'. I'm not saying this with any malice towards Donkey Kong or his fans, it's just funny to me.
It was only the first planned draft. He surely thought of the newcomers as it continued so don't count him out just yet.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.Retro reps are obviously excluded, and Mother 3 was in development at the time of Brawl's release.
??? Mother 3 came out two years before Brawl did.
This song needs more love....Yes?
Brawl was in development since 2005.
And Mother 3 was in development before Brawl, all the way back in the late 90s.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy. You said
Which is not true at all.

This song needs more love.Ooooh, my bad. I meant to say "Mother 3 was in development at the same time as Brawl."
Though as Luigisan said, Mother 3 was technically in development even before Smash 64's release when they were making it for the N64.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!
The closest I have to a prediction is that K. Rool and/or Dixie Kong will make it in as playable somehow (more likely than not only one, but both getting in strikes me as possible). But that's just my guess.
I'm amused by that tweet where they say that Japan calls Ridley "Captain America." I kinda want a pic of Ridley with a Back Shield (assuming it's returning, which I imagine it will) captioned "All those who choose to oppose his shield must yield."
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.
