A year and a half between seasons seemed to be a good window for TWOW to release, but it seems the TV show will be what was released between books 5 and 6.

It would seem from the trailer that the Faceless Men aren't just going to let Arya's betrayal of them go.

Wow, the movement in this thread really died down especially after a trailer just got released. It's what happens, I suppose, when the show takes 2 years between seasons.

I imagine she's running from Wights, not Faceless Men.

If it was wights i feel they wouldn't be so coy about showing them. It's just a personal bunch

I think the season has too many players and not enough time to throw the Faceless Men back in again. Plus there's far more drama to be wrung out of Arya in other ways.

Part of it is just i have a difficult time believing Arya really fears the undead. Or maybe she fears them most of all, as they spit in the many faces of the Many Faced.

Seems unlikely that the Faceless Men would pursue such a vendetta in the middle of what's essentially a zombie apocalypse, to be honest.

I think we're done with the Faceless Man.

Within the show's story, they exist to level up Arya Stark.

Let's state who we think rules Westeros at the end of the season now before season 8 starts.

Sansa. Dany and Jon are going to die fighting the White Walkers.

I also think that they're going to pull a Babylon 5 and have the White Walkers be defeated before Cersei, who will be the final villain of the series.

I'd guess Jon on the hypothetical Iron Throne. But I still think the North will end up seceded, under the leadership of Sansa.

Daenerys will be fifteen feet under after a Heroic Sacrifice against the Night King.

On one hand, I want Sansa as Queen in the North.

On the other... I suspect Jon and Dany will realize their relation, cancel the romance, but it's too late and Dany is pregnant with Jon's kid recreating the song of Ice and Fire and the Targaryan Bloodline. Maybe no one will ever know or only they will, but it seems like a book end to end on the current Queen having a dark secret of her lineage that will continue to lend to future political machinations.

The Targaryens were into bro-sis fucking for centuries. You think a little thing like Dany boning down on her nephew is going to cause a scandal?

Well they were certainly up in arms about Joffrey and Tommen being inbred bastards.

I guess they were hoping that, after centuries of Targaryen rule, the incest would finally end.

Of course they were up in arms, the Doctrine of Exceptionalism only applies to the Targaryens after all.

Uncle and niece was exceptionally common in royal families.

It caused a scandal with Cersei. A really bad one. Specifically one where she wound up exploding a church and making the outcry go away through fear of reprisal.

And its also a major point some people had against the Targaryan Bloodline as a whole rather than just the Mad King. It would be a dramatic irony if, against the character's intentions, they wind up restarting one of the major problems of the world again. Like a verse resetting back to the chorus.

The backlash against Cersei was at least as much because her children were bastards and not actually children of the king as because of the incest angle.

I like to imagine the series will end with Daenerys as queen allowing Jon and the North to stay separate, but they marry, have kiddos, and those kiddos grow up to rule both the North and the Other Seven Kingdoms.

But that would imply this series will have a happy ending.

So the Golden Company are retconning Jon Connington and the Blackfyre bit out by the sound of things. A bit annoying, but if they want a big fight between Cersei and Jonaerys, they couldn't just have them go "Whoops, looks like we support Rhaegar's kid now lol".
