Warrior, Ranger, Elementalist and Necromancer. But they already stated that while some professions will be carried over from GW 1 (like those 4) others will be either original or only vaguely inspired by old classes.
Furthermore out of those 8 professions, 3 will be some type of Squishy Wizard, 3 will be adventure classes like the Ranger and two will be soldier classes.
Doesn't leave much room for a support character like Monk, Mesmer or Ritualist.
Wha? Mesmer's totally a Squishy Wizard. Just in a slightly different capacity than the Elementalist.
I have a message from another time...Yes, Mesmer is the most likely candidate. But two of the three Squishy Wizard slots are already full and I doubt they'll pull out an old profession at this stage. I expect to see a Mesmer/protection Monk hybrid instead.

...Let us in...I'm just getting a 404 on that page.
Page not found.

Also: Orrian Baby Chicken. Zombie chicken minipet is awesome.
Edit again, I'm liking the option of seeing what you're missing in the Hall, makes the upcoming title/hero armour grind much easier.

Burn up, hurricane of justice!I've got 15/50.
So, I've got the full Heritage set, some other various equipment, some pets...
ORANGE KITTY! :D
I get an orange kitty! :3
Posted my preview of Guild Wars 2 at my site - I had some hands-on time with it at NYCC and was thoroughly impressed by it.
It looks like a real winner.
Jonah FalconBwuh? Now that's new.
I have a message from another time...It's a really cool effect. You become a black smoke version of yourself and you enter a netherworld version of the world. I don't think anyone can attack your corporeal body while you're doing this, too. I'm not sure, tho - dev was vague on this.

Jonah FalconGuild Wars loot carries over.
Jonah FalconJust rewatched the trailers and my excitement for this game has been reignited.
Any news on a release date?
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."Dude! The Guardian looks like a great class.
A class based entirely around defense, and with some awesome attacks to boot.
I have a message from another time...I played this at E3. It was fucking amazing even in the early beta state.
Jonah FalconWelp, that does it. Guild Wars 2 is a must buy, now.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderOops. I played it at NYCC, not E3. But it was still awesome :)
Jonah FalconI used to Monk, but really it was because I wanted to be sure to get in PUG's. I have Grown the Beard since then and realised that direct healing and defense just isn't my style (in hindsight the elementalist or mesmer would've suited me better). I'm really looking forward to the 2 upcoming Guns Akimbo (I hope) drifter-esque classes. Dual-wielding pistols is just awesome.
...Let us in...Wait, pistols?
Hey, are there any other classes revealed?
And I played Monk first. Turned out I really did love using it. As such, I now have awesome stuff like Vigorous Spirit and Unyielding Aura, and I am saddened deeply by the death of the Monk class in GW 2.
I have a message from another time...I played the Necro at NYCC.
Jonah FalconSo, here's some background for the humans in Guild Wars 2.

The writing seems to be quite good, although I'm no seasoned video game writing critic.
I hope they do a highlight for the other classes as well. I want to know my choices before choosing a class.
...Let us in...I didn't really have a "main" class in the original Guild Wars. I kept hopping back and forth and I just couldn't decide.
However, it looks like I'm going to be a guardian in GW 2. They just look too awesome not to use!
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -Landstander
Dang. Figured it was so, since Union specifies "Damage and Lifesteal", but Shelter doesn't. I was hoping I could use Shelter against Shiro's Reaper's Stance, but oh well.
edit:
That preview mentions four classes available so far. What are they? I figure Warrior and Elementalist are still in, since I saw them in the trailer, but I'm not sure what eight class they'll have, since they took out Monk. Since there are ten classes in the game as of now, that means they'd have to take out another if it only used classes from the game right now.
