The reveal. And Moxana Points all around, sometimes the Foglios do follow the obvious plot-path.

Well, "obvious" only in the sense that the sacrifice was required to be someone the audience is familiar with, and Violetta was only one unaccounted for. I'm honestly kinda hazy on how she ended up here. Like, last we saw her, she was confronting Lady Steelgarter. Last we heard of her, Steelgarter said to have killed her, after what was supposedly a pretty brutal fight. And now she's here, completely undamaged apart from the weird get-up.

[up] The cultists don't stop being Sparks with vaguely medical-ish (and very ethically challenged) skills just because they wear grey cloaks of stupid. And, if Vi passed out due to blood loss, she would be easily stumbled across and fixed up: one free stranger.

Well, for the question of damage, I'm fine with assuming that Violetta wasn't actually damaged at all, but she faked it to keep Steelgarter off her trail. That said, she probably was worn out/exhausted, so she may have been easy to knock out and set up as a sacrifice. She may have in fact just come to, and she's just waiting for the right moment to escape. Of course, that said, while misdirection and sleight of hand are close to escape artistry, we don't know for certain that Vi is good at the latter.

Alternatively, she may have fallen into a trap while she was getting away and got knocked out that way. She does mention that she's prone to panicking and isn't great at being a Smoke Knight, after all.

Anyway, all of that aside, my bet is that we're about to see Tarvek figure out how to combine The Madness Place with Big Brother Instinct. I expect things to go boom.

I think Agatha just got knocked out of the Madness Place herself.

We've seen Violetta pick locks in record time and swipe and replace objects out of people's hands. I'm going with she was somewhat injured, based on the Jaegers' assessment of the battle scene, faked being injured unto death until Lady Steelgarter departed, followed her, and got caught along the way while tailing her. Maybe after Lady Steelgarter departed the dome and Vi was headed back with a report.

I also foresee a lot of pain all around. Neither Agatha or Tarvek will take this calmly, and they have plenty of backup at the moment.

And betting we'll see Zeetha charging into the fray very shortly. The question is if she'll be Worfed. Again.

That question mark after the monster's growl . . . does it recognize Vi? Is it morally opposed to sacrifices? Are we about to see another classic "I am your master . . ." stupidity storm? Wednesday has all sorts of hysterical possibilities.

[up]My bet is that it rejects Violetta specifically and goes after someone else, Snacky being high on the list of possibilities.

I'm inclined to agree with Geoduck. Unless you have ironclad certainty as to what kind of sacrifices your incomprehensible summons from beyond the veil like, you should have some variety of way to ensure that you are not going to be said sacrifice.

Predictable plot device is predictable. But yes, we all saw it coming. And if this doesnt work out perfectly, its basically Agatha's fault. So how does this go south before our heroes can sort it all out?

On seeing the Monday strip I was minded of a comment seen somewhere (I forget exactly, I think on a military-related forum): "That which does not kill me has made a tactical error."

Agatha is so going to feel responsible if Vi gets so much as a scratch from that thing.

Well it looks like it’s finally Violetta’s turn to be dressed up fancily by her captors... I agree- Tarvek is not going to let these guys get away easy.

[up]I think Vi and Tarvek will be having a little game of "cripples and kills". He might let her win on the number of kills (because she has rage to unleash) in exchange for getting extra points on creative cripples scored (they still need info).

Alternatively, I can see Tarvek win a total number of cripples because he's not interested in them having a fast death. He might not be Sparking out right this second, but I bet he's half a second away from doing so again.

You know, the last time I remember "hit the switch" being used as a last-panel cliffhanger for two days, everything fizzed out (the "Si Vales Valeo" incident). Why do I have the feeling that we'll either see that, or that whatever the switch does will be totally ineffective?
