YMMV / Zniw Adventure

Go To

  • Awesome Art: This game has excellent hand-drawn animation inspired by cartoons from The '90s. The movement is so fluid and expressive, the character designs are unique and lovable, and the worlds are lush and detailed.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • In Rivenn-na, there is a tree with some white flowers. If the player picks up the flowers, there is an image of Zniw wearing the flowers as a hat and necklace while giving an adorable smile.
"The white flowers looked so nice, you simply couldn't resist!"
    • Pretty much every scene involving Tra. When Zniw accidentally winds up in Fungilla, most residents seem wary or uncertain about her, but Tra immediately treats her with kindness, acting like a mother to her. She gives Zniw some money to help her get settled in, then later offers to let Zniw work for more money. The only time she loses her temper is in the garden minigame if the player pulls all the fruits and waters all the weeds, but even then, she is only angry for a short time before calming down. At the end of the game, it is Tra who comes looking for Zniw after Popoelio has been defeated, and she expresses her relief that her friend is alright. Tra is all around sweet, caring, and wholesome.
    • Rescuing Eizo and Aira, the chief's wife and daughter respectively, from the cave in which they've been trapped for weeks. If you got the dino plushy from the chief's apartment, you can give it back to Aira for extra heartwarming-ness, and a Shiny Pebble!
    • The ending. Zniw and Agu go from being wanted criminals to the heroes of Fungilla. All the residents of Fungilla happily see them off, but not before Tra learns that Zniw was collecting shiny pebbles to make a necklace for her mother, and Tra helps Zniw out by making the necklace and putting it in a nice gift box. Zniw gets back to Rivenn-na to find that all of its residents were anxiously searching for her after she went missing, and they're glad to see that she's okay. The red Euoplocephalus takes Zniw home to Wajapulka, and Zniw is reunited with her mother, giving her a big hug. Then, Zniw finally gets the chance to give the present to her mother.
  • Moe:
    • Zniw herself. Her design is just adorable, with her rounded body, large eyes, and tiny eyelashes. Her various facial expressions are so cute to look at, especially her smiles. Even though she can be snarky and have a bit of an attitude, she is still an innocent youth, and she can be very caring towards others when the time is right.
    • Sam the snake is a cheerful and friendly little guy. It helps that he's a rare inversion of Snakes Are Sinister: a snake who is 100% good and pure-hearted.
    • The small Albertonykus in the Western District of Fungilla. When you first see him, he's doing a happy dance and singing (indicated by music notes coming from his head.) When Zniw talks to the Albertonykus, he says he's happy because the Healer just cured his cold. But then, he suddenly realizes that now that he's better, he'll have to go back to work. He slumps down adorably and stares off into space.
    • Tra is an adult, unlike what this trope usually implies, but her acts of kindness to Zniw make her very lovable. She acts so sweet and motherly to her. It helps that, as a Nothronychus, she's so fluffy (well, technically "feathery," but still.)
    • Aira, the chief's young daughter. She's a little Thescelosaurus girl with fluff.
  • The Woobie:
    • Zniw. As a small, herbivorous dinosaur with no means of self-defense, she is terrified of the many carnivorous creatures she runs into. To make things worse, she accidentally gets herself lost far from her mother's home, and has multiple near-death experiences. It's easy to feel bad for the cute little dino, especially when all she wanted was to get a gift for her mother's birthday.
    • That poor dino who died in the Undercave. They scratched a message into the stone wall detailing their failed attempts to escape, and their growing despair. By the time you find them, there's nothing but a skeleton left, so they've been there for a long time.
