YMMV / Wind And Water: Puzzle Battles

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The battle against Shinji has an exciting rock theme to go with it. Good thing, too, because you'll be retrying that level a lot.
  • Breather Level:
    • The Soyokaze Giri minigame is the easiest of the bunch. Even in hard mode, you just have to do 3 nearly frame-perfect button presses with no time limit. Compared to the "react to dozens of split-second fast obstacles for a full minute" hell described below, it's a walk in the park.
    • Don't ? Mark is the obligatory "Simon Says" Mini-Game. Very straightforward, and the Random Number God might bless you with an easy sequence to follow.
  • Scrappy Mechanic:
    • You can only keep 200 points at the beginning and must go through 4 wallet extensions (each costing your current point cap) in order to be able to buy all the items.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: The theme for Aiba's Dungeon is clearly meant to evoke the battle themes from the Final Fantasy games. There is also the theme for Sunset Driver, an unabashed plain old rearrangement of the main theme from Hang-On.
  • That One Boss: The final boss of the game, Shinji, is that sort of boss that, should you lose to him, makes you realize you don't actually have any idea how the game really works and wonder how did you even get this far to begin with.
  • That One Level:
    • The hard mode for most of the 6 minigames, which you will have to play over the course of story mode. Oh, and beating them in there doesn't actually mark their completion status on their respective menus...
      • Digipet Roller and Sunset Driver have the same general gameplay of avoiding a long but fixed sequence of obstacles on a single try. They're a severe test of reflexes and memory that get tiring and irritating pretty fast as the hard mode of either minigame just seems to go on forever (when actually it does last the same amount of time).
      • Aiba's Treasure requires you to move the character over to an item, click on it and then pick the appropriate action out of a large list containing several typos to throw you off. You have to clear about five rooms and the time limit is very strict in all three difficulties. Sometimes the items are also odd enough you won't even know what word to look for anyway.
