YMMV / What the Cut

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The whole intro for #35 can be its very own story, and isn't relevant at all to the rest of the video, which goes the same way as every other episode.
  • Broken Base: The fans are kinda divided on whether the extended skits intro in his later videos are cool and funny, or just boring and intrusive.
  • Discredited Meme: Starting from the 35th episode, each episode was a victim of Schedule Slip. As a result, it became common among French internet users to joke and make memes about delays between episodes at the time even though Antoine Daniel quickly got tired of these jokes. However, starting a few years after the last episode came out, when Antoine Daniel was vocal about how tired he was of What the Cut as a whole and of being associated with that and nothing else, fans stopped making jokes like that out of respect for him and people who continue joking about the episodes' delays are quickly told by fans that they are unfunny and disrespectful.
  • Fountain of Memes: A lot of quotes (both from the selected videos and from Antoine himself) are remembered, and Antoine Daniel is still well known today (in his Twitch Streamer career) for his insane potential to generate catchy quotes and durable memes.
  • Memetic Mutation: His infamous Schedule Slip. Though jokes about them became discredited memes.
Joueur du Grenier parodying him: See you in 8 years!!
  • Nightmare Fuel: In #4 and #11.
Antoine Daniel: While you're asleep at night, this monkey MASTURBATES [pronounced in slow-mo and in close-up] behind your windows.
Antoine Daniel: [This indian man], every night, does MASTURBATES behind your windows too.
  • Squick: The reaction most people would have when seeing some of the videos Antoine reviews, such as the documentary about drinking one's own urine, and the bizarre PSA about shitting and farting. Both are in French, by the way, so he's sure most of his audience can be properly grossed out along with him.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: He is regularly accused of plagiarism by fans of Salut Les Geeks, which is another French Youtube series inspired by =3. Although Salut les Geeks began earlier than What The Cut, nor Antoine Daniel neither the Salut les Geeks creator heard about the other show until fans started to point the similarities.
    • Although both series follow the same principle, their spirit is quite different. What The Cut is darker and more cynical, for example.
