YMMV / Turner the Worm

Go To

  • Growing the Beard: After the early stories mostly tended to be nonsensical Random Events Plots, "The Worminator" is regarded to be where the strip finally found its footing, introducing Kylie Leech and solidifying its more parodic formula.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • The climax of "Worminator 2" has Turner set the titular Worminator to self-destruct, with its explosion collapsing a salt mine and killing the giant slugs who are threatening to exterminate humanity. Years later, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines climaxed with that film's T-850 detonating its power cell to both kill the T-X and collapse the entrance to the complex that John Connor and Kate Brewster had been sent to hide out in.
    • Turner's trip to Hollywood results in the studio making an awful and unfaithful film about his life, resulting in his destroying the only master copy of the film by eating it. An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn would go with a very similar plot just a few years later.
  • Replacement Scrappy: Goldblum wasn't a very popular replacement for Glug, to put it lightly, with the main complaints being his unappealing personality and character design, and having too many one-note jokes revolving around food.
