- Fandom Rivalry: Mick fans were absolutely livid when this show was cancelled while Last Man Standing got renewed for another season. Not helping is that the two shows have different styles, with Mick exercising Black Comedy and Vulgar Humor while LMS is a more standard family-friendly sitcom.
- Harsher in Hindsight:
- Omicron, Ben's possibly sinister imaginary friend who turns out to be a dying homeless man called Chester Omicron in "The Fire" comes off as even more ominous knowing its the name of a variant of an airborn (as in invisible) COVID-19 Pandemic.
- Also, we never see the neighbour again after Omicron visit her. Last time we hear from her is a scream.
- Heartwarming Moments: After Ben manages to befriend a prison gang, he gives the leader one of his toy jet fighters as a parting gift. The gang leader then turns the toy into a shiv with which to murder the man who is raping Ben's father.
- Nightmare Fuel: Chris Pemberton's time in prison is played for laughs, but it's pretty genuinely horrific. His cellmate pulled all of his teeth so he'd give better head, for instance. The ending is fairly optimistic, but that doesn't undo the trauma he's suffered up until now (nor would it necessarily stop another inmate raping him, though the ones Ben befriended might keep an eye out for him).
- Too Good to Last: What many fans felt about the show's cancellation after just two seasons.
