Some appreciate it for being a Shout-Out to Twin Peaks, and that it is full of hidden messages, but others have criticized it both because it relies too heavily on Stock Footage and because it gives the Story Arc No Ending. Although a prominent Running Gag is that every Season ends with a Gainax Ending, some argue "The Comening" takes it too far, and some have even called it "retarded." The negative reviews for "The Comening" outnumber the positive ones.
