- Ho Yay: Original Lian Cheng/"Liu Shang" and alternate Lian Cheng are a bizarre case that overlaps with Screw Yourself. Xiao Tan even mistakes them for lovers when she sees them together.
- The Woobie:
- Tan Er, like in the first series. Once again she ends up with Xiao Tan taking over her body and making her look crazy.
- Yi Huai. His father threatens the life of the woman he loves to make him marry a more "suitable" woman, and when Yi Huai refuses to be intimidated his father strips him of his title and shuts him up in his house. In the end he turns evil and goes insane without ever seeing Tan Er again — except in a hallucination.
- WTH, Costuming Department?: Most of the costumes are an improvement on the ones from the first series, with the notable exception of Lian Cheng's silver hat
