YMMV / The ClueFinders 6th Grade Adventures: The Empire of the Plant People

Go To

  • Captain Obvious Reveal: When the clue about the pollution is introduced, it's a little too obvious that this must be why the plants want to attack the town. But Owen and Leslie insist on acting like it's a total mystery how the pollution might fit into the story. It's only when they get into the throne room that it's finally "revealed" that the plants want to attack because of the pollution.
  • Inferred Holocaust: Shutting down half the town's industry at once would have to cause a serve economic disaster. Not to mention, it's possible for the town power plant to be one of the polluting factories that gets shut down. So, is the town now in an indefinite blackout? The game doesn't say. Though a slightly less horrifying way to look at it is that They didn't know they were causing this much damage - thus the friends Santiago calls are simply making them aware so they adjust their business to pollute less.
  • Tear Jerker: The antagonist, who happens to be Miss Rose, Joni’s elderly neighbor. She is revealed to be a large plant and the leader of the plants. She plans to lead an invasion in the Cluefinders’ town because of the increasing pollution the plant people have had to endure. Miss Rose doesn’t want to attack anyone, but she feels as she has to for the sake of her people. Her scientists were able to counteract the pollution at first, but it has reached a point where their water is undrinkable. Miss Rose tried to go with a more peaceful approach by disguising herself as a human, but that failed, too. This is one of the few villains who isn’t evil or selfish.
  • Ugly Cute: Ficus is an eyeless plant creature... who's actually pretty cute.
