YMMV / The Beatles (1965)

Go To

  • Awesome Music: This is based on The Beatles after all.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Paul being knighted for discovering the cure for malaria. The real Paul would himself eventually be knighted.
    • George casually complementing the flavour of a "blood sausage" produced with "real blood", given his later involvement with the vegetarianism-advocating Hare Krishna movement.
    • In "Anna", a mysterious Japanese woman captivates John, psychologically controlling him to the point where he abandons the group. Oh, wait — not John, but Paul.
    • "All My Loving" depicts the Beatles on a "goodwill trip" to India.
  • Hollywood Homely: Hakim's assistant from "She Loves You".
  • Nightmare Fuel: The "Eleanor Rigby" sing-along segment. Most of the singalongs are kid-friendly, but this is far from it. The visuals for this are more akin to when the song was featured in Yellow Submarine, and the grimly tragic subject matter isn't exactly "Follow the Bouncing Ball" material.
  • Seasonal Rot: Everyone on the production team agrees that the episodes made in Australia are the worst.
  • So Bad, It's Good: George Harrison quite literally said the cartoon was "so bad or silly that they were good."
  • Values Dissonance: Part of why the series was never given a DVD release is because of the abundance of racial humor. And we don't mean the occasional insensitive remark or stereotypical joke, we mean almost every episode has some kind of racist caricature (most infamous is Ringo's "Chinaman" impression in one episode) to the point that editing them out would reduce episodes to nothingness.
