• Bizarro Episode: Some find the Necropocalypse plot line to be this. To be fair, so does one of the characters in the storyline.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: The Creepy Chaplain, one of the few recurring characters that's neither Abe nor Garcia. A fan favorite despite (or probably because of) his creepiness.
• Fridge Logic: As Uriarte points out, what's wrong with using the pockets on the service uniform to hold things? Also, why is the Michelin man white if he's made out of tires?
  • One strip pokes fun at The Marine's Hymn, which contains the line "If the Army and the Navy ever look on Heaven's scenes; They will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines." As Uriarte points out in The Rant, that contract is for eternity, so it would actually kind of suck. A later strip reinforced this.
• Memetic Badass: General Jim "Mad Dog" Mattis is held in this regard by the comic, to the point of causing a Marine to sprout a full beard in mere seconds in one strip, and giving Uriarte both humongous testicles and a Mister Seahorse pregnancy.
  • The prospect of a 2016 Presidential run resulted in 100% of the vote going to Mattis, as well as every country in the world surrendering to the US, even those they weren't at war with.
    • After he was appointed Defense Secretary in 2017, a strip deconstructed this trope some with Mattis himself saying that it's just memes.
• Periphery Demographic: Uriarte asserts that Death Stranding, despite being in "...an incredibly odd science fiction setting...", is "...the most realistic depiction of Marine Corps infantry life I’ve ever seen to date." His explanations on how the minutiae of two correlate are both comical jokes and serious statements.
• Squick: Abe is horrified when he got splash-back from the port-a-potty.
  Abe: It touched my asshole!
