Archive Panic: While Ten itself isn't terribly long, punching in at only about 150 chapters, it did spawn a prequel that ran concurrently with it and is nearly twice as long, numerous spinoffs of both manga that also ran concurrently and total a couple hundred chapters themselves, a couple of other works that take place in the same universe, and a sequel that is still running as of 2024. Obviously, you can read Ten by itself and still understand it, but good luck if you want the full experience!
Funny Moments: Shortly after his introduction, Akagi asks his opponents and a few others what the most delicious thing for a Mahjong player is (it's a riddle of sorts). His reaction to their responses is hilarious. Especially since he's usually so stoic.
Heartwarming Moments: The very last page shows a cat sleeping by Akagi's grave. Aww...
Moe: One of the reasons why Hiroyuki is so popular.
More Popular Spin-Off: Some people new to Fukumoto's works don't even know that Akagi is supposed to be a Prequel to this. Likely because the latter got an anime adaptation.
