YMMV / Ted Lasso S3E12 "So Long, Farewell"

Go To

  • Awesome Music: "Beautiful Game" by Ed Sheeran, which serves as the backing track to the video montage Ted and Beard present to the team prior to kick-off of their final game together, and as Richmond head to the pitch for the most important game of their careers.
  • Catharsis Factor: After spending the entire show being beloved and popular in spite of his disgusting behaviour, seeing Rupert storming off the pitch humiliated while the entire crowd chants "wanker!" at him is nothing short of satisfying.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: Not to the episode as a whole, but after the episode aired, a sizable portion of the fanbase who disliked the "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue wrote off the whole montage as just Ted's dream on the plane. Even after Brendan Hunt stated in a Reddit AMA that this wasn't the show's intention, the interpretation remains popular in certain circles.
  • Fridge Brilliance: The house party at the Higgins' residence takes place in the front garden rather than the closed off back garden - because everyone is welcome.
  • Genius Bonus: Nate repairs the torn "Believe" sign with gold glitter glue. This is in reference to the art of Kintsugi, a Japanese method of repairing broken ceramics with precious metals to acknowledge the damage as part of an object's history and to show that something broken can be fixed and continue to have value. In fact, this art was even alluded to earlier this season by the psychic that Rebecca grudgingly visited, making this double as a Continuity Nod.
