YMMV / Tadpole Treble

Go To

  • Awesome Music: It's a Rhythm Game by Matthew Taranto, which means it's nothing but awesome music.
  • Best Level Ever: Thunder Creek. Every part of it is designed to make you feel like a champion - the gimmick (hit cymbals to avoid lightning) is fair yet really cool to pull off, and the song is all about how dangerous the level is and by extension how much of a badass you are for making it through.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Nearly everyone knows that Matthew Taranto is a huge Kirby fan. With that in mind, it's a rather funny coincidence that Kirby: Planet Robobot and Tadpole Treble, both released in 2016, feature rogue AIs as final bosses.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Sonata. Shows up in a single level where he falls for Baton and proceeds to serenade for her for the rest of the level in hope of wooing her. Despite this (or perhaps because of it), he has quite the sizeable amount of fans from those who played the game.
  • That One Level: Piranha Jungle is full of tough obstacles - from bugs with a surprisingly long reach, to the Staccato forming a gun that tracks your movement and jumping out of the water and into your path, while flytraps snap at you. Even if you make it through all that without losing your life bar, there's a part at the very end where you have to hit cymbals to knock fruit from trees - if you miss more than one, the Staccato will eat you just as you're crossing the finish line, and it's back to the beginning. And if you think that's bad, see That One Sidequest below.
  • That One Sidequest: Getting the Glass Fly requires you to clear Piranha Jungle without taking any damage. Since you're pursued by the Staccato the entire time, it's easier said than done. The sections with the "piranha gun" (one of the few obstacles in the game that's based on Baton's position, meaning there's no definite safe spot) and the Staccato leaping out of the water (it's difficult to see their landing positions, and the last one tries to fake you out) are especially tricky. Good usage of the Treble Mode helps, but only so much, and it's easily the hardest Challenge Fly barring the Maestro Fly.
