Explanation Between the Dull Surprise and Bury Your Gays mentioned above and Supernatural's long history of being accused of queerbaiting, people joked that the show somehow managed to make a romantic scene that was gay and homophobic at the same time. Dean in particular being homophobic is a common iteration.
