• Alternative Character Interpretation: Garnet trying to get Peridot to understand her could also be a more subtle way for Garnet to understand Peridot. After nearly attacking her in "It Could've Been Great" Garnet rethought her approach and instead tries to see things from Peridot's Homeworld indoctrinated perspective and work from there.
• Broken Base:
  • Garnet's willingness to fuse with Peridot to show her why she stays fused has gotten some flack from the fanbase. With how sacred Garnet treats fusion, some of the fan-base found it rather Out of Character to suggest something like that. The other part argues that, thanks to her future vision, she knew Peridot wouldn't actually go through with it, but wanted to see if she would try in an attempt to understand her, of which she did. A third camp insists that since Garnet has no reservations against fusing with Amethyst and Pearl if the situation calls for it, she wouldn't have a problem with fusing with Peridot if she thought it would help her.
  • Considering how strongly Pearl and Amethyst react to fusing with Garnet, other fans wondered if she would be too intense for Peridot, especially for a first fusion.
  • The scene in general: was Garnet clever and encouraging to get Peridot to step out of her comfort zone and open her mind, or hypocritical and condescending to peer pressure Peridot into something that is clearly too much for her?
• Crosses the Line Twice
  • By all a rights, somebody having a mental breakdown shouldn't be funny, but since it's Peridot...
  • Nor should pushing someone off of a roof.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Peridot wondered where she'd put a star on her uniform if she was officially a Crystal Gem. In "Change Your Mind," Peridot's new form goes for several of them.
