* FanartAtFirstSight: When the ''End of an Era'' artbook was leaked online, the thing fans immediately latched on to were concepts for both Morganite and [[FusionDance Rhodonite's coponents]], who all received multiple pieces of fanart before the day ended, and many comments about how cute Rhodonite's Pearl and Ruby were or how many were surprised that Morganite resembled Aquamarine and not Emerald.

* ArcFatigue: The formation of Malachite and her eventual defeat got hit with arc fatigue. Jasper and Lapis fused to become said fusion in the Season 1 finale, at which point the fusion sequestered in the ocean. Lapis would make one appearance during the entirety of Season 2 via a telepathic conversation, while Malachite herself wouldn't reappear until the Season 3 premiere, which also resolved that plot thread by defeating and unfusing her. Between the Lapis episode and the Season 3 premiere were two consecutive story arcs; three, if you want to treat Peridot's HeelFace Turn as separate from the concurrent Cluster arc.

** There doesn't seem to be any evidence that [[ShesAManInJapan some foreign language dubs made Ruby a male character]] to erase the lesbian romance between her and Sapphire. As far as anyone can tell, it seems that this started as just speculation of how a localization trying to tone down the show's homosexual content ''could'' do it, which then got talked up so much that people started to just assume it had actually happened, especially after Ruby wearing the dress at her and Sapphire's wedding was suspected to be specifically designed to prevent it.

How much Amedot and Lapidot fans fight makes Lapidot far from One True Pairing status in the fandom.

* OneTruePairing: Lapidot, the pairing of Lapis with Peridot. It started off as a CrackShip (with fans immediately shipping them once Peridot appeared) but has gotten more and more popular, becoming the most popular ship with both characters, especially after Peridot has her HeelFaceTurn. The fact that they're now roommates and getting along smoothly as of "Beta" has cemented its place. The ship is easily one of the most vocal in the fandom, possibly even the most vocal out of any non-canon pairing besides Steven and Connie themselves.

* DontShootTheMessage: A common focal point amongst the show's detractors. While many people would agree that the series' main message—violence is not the answer and pacifism is always an option—is a deeply meaningful one, there's a rather large BrokenBase over how the message is presented. To detractors, Steven managing to [[HeelFaceTurn redeem some of his enemies]] by having a heart-to-heart with them is plausible enough…but when he starts redeeming all of them, up to the point where he manages to redeem ''[[BigBad the Diamonds]]'', who are shown to be ANaziByAnyOtherName GalacticConquerors, it just feels ridiculous. This unfortunately makes the message come across less as "always try to make peace with the enemy if you can" and more as "the enemy will absolutely redeem themselves if you just talk it out". It's probably safe to say that in RealLife, this has not proven to be the case, as sometimes there will be people that are simply beyond reasoning with, no matter how hard one may try. Even a few fans will admit that the message could have been better presented as a result.

* ItsShortSoItSucks: One of the most common complaints about the show is its eleven minute run-time, which makes several episodes too short to properly tell their stories, and instead makes them feel rushed.
** "Story for Steven", the episode showing how Greg and Rose first met is sometimes said to be too short. While what the episode does have is well-liked, numerous people feel that it doesn't delve deeply enough into Greg and Rose's relationship, and that it doesn't properly explain why Greg was so quick to give up his music career for her. This is lightened when it was confirmed this episode was intended to air before "The Message", which would have given the episode more of a punch as opposed to its somewhat out-of-place slot in season 2.
*** Mediated with the follow-up flashback episode "We Need to Talk", where Greg and Rose both acknowledge that they rushed into the relationship and needed to work on it harder.
** Even though "Mr. Greg" is easily the most well-liked episode from the first week of "Steven's Summer Adventures", there are a few fans (who do like it) that say it would've benefited more from being a full half-hour rather than the usual 11 minutes.
** The arc with Jasper from "Alone at Sea" through "Earthlings" which built up her Corruption in the latter. The biggest problem with these episodes that several people had was that she would only show up for the last few minutes of most of them (with "Gem Hunt" being the worst offender) with the show clearly making a far bigger deal regarding her presence and how much of a threat she was to Steven and company despite the fact that most of the Crystal Gems have been able to easily fend her off with Fusion.

** The "Diamond Days" arc also received this criticism, although not as a result of the 11-minute-runtime. The Diamonds are genocidal tyrants who have been behaving in this manner for eons with no remorse, [[spoiler:yet Steven only needs to give each of them one convincing speech to change their minds in the finale.]]

Added DiffLines:

* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: Ruby and Sapphire have a fight starting in "Now We're Only Falling Apart". The show marketed this as potentially being the end of their relationship, and tried to make it unclear if they would ever fuse again, but very few fans fell for this. Along with it being unlikely that the show would permanently separate a fan-favorite couple, there was no way Garnet, one of the main characters, was gone for good.

* WhatTheHellCastingAgency: Not in a bad way, but an odd way. The voice cast is a offbeat gathering of former teen stars, pop singers, musical theater performers, and radio personalities -- it's almost as if a bunch of old friends in the entertainment industry had a reunion. Music/NickiMinaj as Sugilite in particular surprised many, as her voice for Sugilite sounds almost exactly like the voice actress for Amethyst. Another big issue is how hiring such big names as the Fusions [[ActorExistenceLimbo severely limits how much they can be used]], beyond brief appearances where they don't speak, compromising how much personality they can show.
