- Broken Base: While many are happy to see Starfire with a solo series that doesn't just treat her as Ms. Fanservice, some find that the book plays around with the Fish out of Water idea a bit too much, to the point of Flanderization.
- Les Yay: Starfire being a very affectionate person mixed with a different cultural attitude toward personal space and sex leads to this quite often. Her relationship with Stella Gomez and Atlee in this run is full of this trope. In Issue #9 Atlee has to help Stella adjust to Strata's atmosphere by blowing air into her lungs. It basically looks like a kiss.
- Moe: Starfire's this in her solo series for some. Her Fish out of Water tendencies making her seem adorably awkward.
