YMMV / Spiral Zone

• Awesome Music: As noted on the main page, the Expository Theme Tune. Actually, the entire score is surprisingly good.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: The episode "Impostor" has a black U.S. president in 2007, one year before the nation elected Barack Obama.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • The Black Widows, their skin covered in nasty red blotches, were not your average 80's cartoon bad guys.
  • It never failed to chill when a new Zone was created and those unfortunate enough to be caught inside realized what was about to happen before being turned to mindless zombies.
  • The Title Sequence begins with a scary scene. How many animated series start with the main villain staring directly at the audience and demanding their surrender? The chilling guitar riff and zone background adds to the nightmare.
• Suspiciously Similar Song: The theme song has more than passing similarities to (one of the themes to) the HBO series Encyclopedia, or at least the part where the actual title is sung.
• Woolseyism: Since literally translating "zone generator" in French would lead to synchronization issues, the French version used "degenerators" instead. Which works wonders, given what it does to people in it.
